Collection of Instructions on Mind Training LJ7 The Wheel of Weapons of Mind Training for the Great Vehicle Homage to the Three Jewels! This is called 'The Wheel of Weapons for Striking the Enemy's Vital Points'. Homage to the Wrathful Yama, the Slayer of Death! When a peacock roams in a forest of potent poison, Even if a garden of medicinal herbs is beautifully adorned, The flocks of peacocks will not rejoice, But just as peacocks thrive on the essence of potent poison, When a hero enters the forest of samsara, Even if a garden of happiness and glory is beautifully adorned, The heroes will not be attached, But a bodhisattva thrives in a forest of suffering. Therefore, taking pleasure in happiness, Is the coward's way of succumbing to suffering. The bodhisattva who embraces suffering, Is always happy with the strength of a hero. Now, attachment is like a forest of potent poison, Which the hero, like a peacock, will subdue. The coward dies like a crow. How can a self-seeker subdue this poison? When afflictions are combined with other things, Like a crow, it falls into the death of liberation. Therefore, the bodhisattva, like a peacock, Transforms afflictions, which are like a forest of poison, Into nourishment and enters the forest of samsara. Willingly accept and destroy this poison! Now, helplessly wandering in samsara, This demon messenger who clings to self, Separate from selfish pleasure and comfort, And willingly embrace the hardship of benefiting others. Driven by karma and accustomed to afflictions, Accumulate the sufferings of all beings of similar fate, Upon the self that desires happiness. If the clinging to self-desire arises, Reverse it and give your own happiness to others. When the mind turns to negative thoughts, Satisfy the heart by saying that it is due to your own negligence. When unbearable pain arises in the body, It is because of harming the bodies of beings in the past, The weapon of negative karma turns back on oneself. Now, take all the sickness upon yourself. When suffering arises in your mind, It is certainly because of disturbing the minds of other beings, The weapon of negative karma turns back on oneself. Now, take all the suffering upon yourself. When you are tormented by intense hunger and thirst, It is because of past extortion, robbery, and miserliness, The weapon of negative karma turns back on oneself. Now, take all the hunger and thirst upon yourself. When you are helplessly enslaved and tormented by others, It is because of hating those of lower status and using them as slaves, The karma --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
