On the snowy mountains, Naropa Bon-chung subdued his opponent with miraculous powers, And established the teachings of the Kagyu lineage in this snowy land. I pay homage to the feet of the lamp of the teachings! On Lapchi Snow Mountain, for eighteen days and nights, Though there was continuous snowfall and no food to eat, The Dakinis reverently offered and nourished him with the nectar of Samadhi. I pay homage to the transformations and miraculous powers shown by the master! The faithful disciples repeatedly requested, And he went to Nyalam, to the place where the snow mountain song was sung, And trampled the rocks with his feet as if they were clay. I pay homage to this undisputed and universally known event! In the vision of opening a hundred doors of Samadhi, There arose favorable, unfavorable, and intermediate appearances, As well as various distinctions of experiences involving the elements. Everything arose as a friend on the path. In the sandalwood forest, when he was a carefree child, He played naked and uninhibited with low-caste girls. Looking into a silver mirror, and in the sky, He showed how his body dissolved into space. I pay homage to the way he showed (dissolving into space)! At Cholong Drak, he wore the sun and moon as clothes, Adorned with a garland of flowers, smeared with thick ashes, Carrying an umbrella and a victory banner. Riding a lion, he soared into the sky. At the sacred place of Trashigang Chuwari, When he was dwelling in the state of equality and clear light, Five great flesh-eating demonesses with terrifying forms, Showed (various) threats and miracles. At that time, on an island in the ocean, he sat cross-legged on a spearhead, Wore flames as clothes, Wore snakes as a crown, and piled jewels like eggs. Clearly showing how to effortlessly lift mountains. Even when showing the earth and rocks collapsing, the forest shaking, The sky falling and the earth quaking, invisible hands stretching out, And the falling of rain of weapons, etc., He remained in unwavering Samadhi. Blood-drinking jackal-faced ones devoured the ocean, Skeleton women held Mount Meru in their laps, The forms of Yama shook the sun and moon, Coal-black young girls struck down the Pleiades. Beautiful and smiling goddesses seduced him, The sky was filled with fire, surrounded by abysses on all sides, The earth was flooded with water, and giants guarded the four directions. The master watched all the wondrous sights. He offered his body without attachment to the seat, and dedicated it as an offering, And transferred the non-fabricated realization into the single sphere. The flames burned, and all of them, like firewood, Arose as friends on the path. Those demon hordes all gained single-pointed faith, Pacified (their) visions and miracles, and dwelt in peace. They asked for forgiveness for their faults and promised to follow his teachings. All were placed under the bond of oath. Those five great flesh-eating demonesses transformed into five Dakinis, And bowed at his feet with their heads, And offered food filled with essence in precious vessels. Bodhicitta increased. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
