Ru Zhu Jia Cuo's Teachings LG15: Elucidation of the Three Treatises on the Wheel of Reasoning 2-103 ༄༅། །Elucidation of the Three Treatises on the Wheel of Reasoning ༄། །An explanation of the connections derived from one's own previous treatise. ༄༅། །'Elucidation of the Three Treatises on the Wheel of Reasoning' from 'Rays of the Sun of Good Explanation'. The teaching of the peerless teacher, with epistemology as the path. The skillful teachers Dignāga and Dharmakīrti, in this land of snows. The name of the Sakya school Resounds in all directions, may the lineage of listening lamas flourish in succession. The treatises of Dignāga and Dharmakīrti spread across the earth. The tradition initiated by Manjushri Gon. Guided by the wise leaders of the listening lineage, This wonderful speech, proclaim to the ears of the wise. Thus, after praising and vowing to compose,. 'The meaning of well distinguishing reasoning'. Etc., in the occasions, there are three points, first is the explanation. The connection with one's own previous treatise. The connection of analyzing the key points of the text. The explanation of exploring the meaning of words and phrases. The connection of combining with other treatises to be explained, there are four types. First is the explanation. From where does this treatise derive? 'The essence is the nature of words and particles'. Etc., derived from. Then from where is it derived? 'Having the meaning of being able to express and understand'. Etc., derived from. Then from where is it derived? 'Having the one that pervades the former, even without it'. 'Sound is produced, like all of this'. Etc., derived from. Then from where is it derived? 'The internal branches and abilities are'. 'Truly existing in the three modes'. Etc., derived from four verses. Then from where is it derived? 2-104 'In order to understand the meaning of meaning, for meaning'. 'Cannot say subject and reason'. Derived from here. Then from where is it derived? 'Saying meaning, that is sound etc.'. Etc., derived from. Then it is ༴ 'In order to eliminate it, seeing my words'. Derived from here. Then it is ༴ In the 'Wise Man's Chapter' it says: 'The inference for the benefit of others'. 'Can make one's own seen meaning completely clear'. Derived from here. The reason for the first being derived in this way is: 'The essence is the nature of words and particles'. Etc., in the occasions, does the nature of what can be expressed and what is to be expressed have four aspects, or five aspects? Then, how many types of correct reasons are there that can establish what is to be established? Regarding this, from the perspective of the types expressed in words, is there a difference between the correct reason that can establish what is to be established, and the similar reason that cannot establish it? Or, in order to easily understand and recognize the detailed differences. 'The meaning of well distinguishing reasoning'. 'In order to easily grasp what is to be established'. Etc., the reason why the treatise appeared or was explained. 'The essence is words and particles' etc. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This treatise, 'The reason for establishing the proof,' etc., has its reasons derived from it. In the case of 'establishing the statement,' etc., in order to dispel ignorance of the nature of 'true altruistic aspect,' if one admits that there is no nature of 'true altruistic aspect,' how would one explain it? There is a way to explain it, which is to explain it by stating that it has five characteristics. As it says in the scriptures: 'The essence is the word, the connection is the self.' etc. 'The meaning of establishing the proof is realized,' this also has its reasons derived from it, that is, in the case of having a pervasive antecedent, even if it does not have it (referring to the statement), but in the case of 'pervasive antecedent,' etc., for the branch of the correct reasoning with a pervasive antecedent and the correct proof with a homogeneous antecedent, even if the proposition is not explicitly stated in words, it relies on establishing such two correct proofs, and admits that the inference of the proposition at the time arises. He (the objector) says: After explaining the correct altruistic statement, it is not necessary to explain the correct altruistic aspect. Because relying on establishing such a correct statement, the inference of establishing the proof arises. To explain this answer, there are words such as 'establishing the proof is realized.' Therefore, this treatise of 'having a pervasive antecedent, even if it does not have it,' etc., has its reasons derived from it, that is, in the case of 'inner,' etc., for the altruistic statement, although it does not have the ability to directly establish the true altruistic aspect. However, it is admitted that it has the ability to establish it through it. He (the objector) says: It also does not have the ability to establish it through it. Because in the branch of the statement, the proposition is not explicitly stated in words. To explain this answer, there are words such as 'having a pervasive antecedent, even if it does not have it.' The words 'the ability of the inner branch,' etc., also have their reasons derived from it, that is, in the case of 'the meaning of the meaning is established,' etc., if it is admitted that the aspect and the reason do not have the ability to directly establish the proposition. He (the objector) says: It is not necessary to establish the correct statement. Because the correct reason does not have the ability to directly establish the proposition. To explain this answer, there are words such as 'inner branch.' This treatise of 'the meaning of the meaning is established,' etc., also has its reasons derived from it. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
