Victorious Protector, Noble Nāgārjuna's Lineage: Averting War with Tara, A Visible Liturgy, Swiftly Revealing True Results. Victorious Protector, Noble Nāgārjuna's Lineage: Averting War with Tara, A Visible Liturgy, Swiftly Revealing True Results. Victorious Protector, Noble Nāgārjuna's Lineage: Averting War with Tara, A Visible Liturgy, Swiftly Revealing True Results, is the title. Namo Guru Aryatareye. With compassionate eyes, swift and powerful like lightning, gazing upon sentient beings suffering throughout the sky, granting great liberation and bliss in every instant, bestowing breath, I bow to the venerable noble mother. Relying on her yoga, the means to avert outer and inner obstacles, possessing authentic blessings and splendor, I compose according to the unerring words of the predecessors. This ransom ritual, passed down successively from the feet of the second Buddha, the noble Nāgārjuna, and widely known in the lands of Tibet, has four aspects: the manner of its transmission, the history of its benefits and connections, the individual practitioner, and the manner of actually taking up the ritual. First, it was prophesied by the Victorious One and composed by the noble Nāgārjuna, who attained accomplishment through reliance on the Tara tantra, and given to those with fortune. From then on, the bridge of transmission continued unbroken, and Lord Atiśa brought it to Tibet. When Lord Atiśa passed away, it was taken from his robes and given to Geshe Tonpa. He gave it to Sangpuwa Doklek Sherab. He gave it to Neyzurpa, and it was passed down successively until it descended upon Gyaton, who also composed an extensive text. Later, Gyaltsab Drakpa Chokyang and Zhuchen and others composed texts with varying degrees of elaboration and abbreviation, and the lineage of both the oral teachings and the practical application remained undiminished. Second, the noble Nāgārjuna said: "The wisdom deities and worldly ones, their power is pacified by this. Like the jewel on the crown of the Naga king, all needs and desires are accomplished by this. Subjugating the three jewels and entrusting them to the eight classes, and curses, effigies, and phurbas coiled up, and bad omens arising in the land, the power of all of these cannot produce even a little. If you practice it yourself, it is highly praised." Thus he instructed, and Lord Atiśa said: "When going to a distant place,

By performing this ritual, no misfortune will occur. Also, if there is conflict in the region, or diseases spread, or inauspicious omens appear, this ritual can dispel them. If you encounter anything undesirable, do not hesitate; by performing this ritual, there is no possibility that what you desire will not be accomplished. Because there is no ritual more blessed or powerful than this one for accomplishing wishes and dispelling obstacles, you should strive very diligently in it. It is said that among the texts that have appeared in Tibet, there is none more profound than this. Therefore, for curses and black magic, bad omens and nightmares, fighting with fierce gods and demons, the harm of great demons, plagues and epidemics, disasters and livestock diseases, the harm of bad years, months, days, times, and stars, etc., this dispelling is profound and powerful. Furthermore, reciting wrathful mantras, taking oaths, and the faults of traveling far away can also be purified. In short, this ritual is especially excellent for dispelling all worldly and transcendental obstacles and increasing all goodness. The signs of faith that arise from performing such a ritual with great blessings and benefits have a widespread history in India, Nepal, and Tibet, which can be known from ancient texts. Third, one should have received either the empowerment or subsequent permission of Tara. Those who have received the transmission of the Twenty-One Taras, especially the transmission of this method, the best is a fully ordained monk, the intermediate is a novice monk, and even a layperson is acceptable. Twenty-one non-laypeople, or seven, or five, or one, or three, etc., should practice according to the place and time. Fourth, the actual ritual has three parts: preparation, main practice, and concluding activities. First, on an auspicious day or when the need arises, in the center of a cleaned room, set up a high and covered platform. On it, arrange a lotus with twenty petals, including the center, made of colored powder or painted on cloth. If that is not available, on a mandala plate, place one heap of grain in the center and five heaps in each of the four directions, totaling twenty-one. On top of that, place a representation of the Twenty-One Taras or Green Tara, either a painting or a statue, whichever is consecrated. In front of that, arrange outer offerings, a rosary, a bathing vase, cloths and garments for wiping the body, and a clean container filled with many round tormas surrounded by decorations, along with a pleasant sound.
