E! It is necessary to subdue the border areas. It is needed in the degenerate age to endure evil retinues and perverse practices. Thus it is said. As soon as a thought arises, immediately destroy it in the state of mind training or emptiness. Do not slowly meditate on all antidotes from the outside, but as soon as afflictions arise, strike them down immediately and destroy them suddenly. Do not arrange many temporary and long-term plans, but focus solely on what benefits the mind and destroys self-grasping as much as possible. When you are separated from self-grasping, you become a Buddha, so just decide on one path and do not need to calculate the stages of the path. If you want to gather all the antidotes of the pure side, they are contained in these four dharmas. Bad circumstances are virtuous friends, demons are emanations of the Victorious Ones, illness is a broom for purifying obscurations, and suffering is the tool of Dharma nature. The four dharmas of complete affliction are: subduing the border areas, evil retinues, and the degenerate age. Thus it is said. Relying on bad circumstances to accumulate merit, purify obscurations, remember the sacred Dharma, and enhance realization, etc., because they perform the actions of a virtuous friend, so there is no need to abandon bad circumstances. If the magic of gods and demons and the harm of evil spirits occur, they will become helpers in increasing virtuous deeds and vows, so they are emanations of the Lama and the Buddhas, so there is no need to be afraid. When practicing the sacred Dharma properly, it will provoke past bad karma, and various illnesses will occur in the body. When this happens, let alone serious illnesses, even a small headache can purify all the obscurations accumulated from beginningless time, just as a broom sweeps them away, as the sutras repeatedly say, so meditate on rejoicing in illness. When suffering arises in the mind, looking at the nature of suffering, it will appear as emptiness. No matter how great the suffering is, it is a tool of Dharma nature, so there is no need to be discouraged. If these things happen, it is good that they happen, because they can be taken as helpers in practice. Therefore, do not abandon the four dharmas of complete affliction, but rather the key to practice. Happiness is a great oppression, suffering is a great conclusion, the most unnecessary thing is desire, and bad omens are taking in the cliff. The four dharmas of reversing adversity are: it is necessary to subdue the border areas, to endure evil retinues and perverse practices, it is needed in the degenerate age.

I am. It is said that when the body and mind are comfortable and happy, one tends to want to do all sorts of non-virtuous things. When you look at the essence of what you think is happiness, it doesn't exist as a real thing. Give that mere appearance of happiness to all sentient beings and take it onto the path. Instead of letting that appearance of happiness control you, make yourself able to overcome it, and that is suppressing happiness. If suffering arises, don't be discouraged, but look at its essence, and it will vanish into emptiness. On top of that appearance of suffering, take on the suffering that all sentient beings don't want, and make yourself able to overcome it, and that is ending all suffering. When everything unwanted and undesirable falls on your head, that is the friend for destroying self-cherishing, just as you wish. Self-grasping, this is what you need. By all means, destroy this, like water flowing away, and put it down with a relaxed mind. If bad omens and miracles occur, what should you do? All sorts of thoughts arise, wondering what is better. At that time, this is what you need. It's good that it happened. Pile all the bad omens on top of this self-cherishing, and put it down without hesitation. These are the four methods of reversal and suppression that relatives cannot tame. I am the root of faults, a dharma to be abandoned far away. Others are the source of qualities, a dharma to be taken up tightly. These two are the dharmas for concluding the antidote, needed for taming those on the borderlands. For enduring evil deeds in a degenerate environment, this is needed in the degenerate age. It is said that, in short, all the roots of mind training are contained in abandoning self-interest far away and grasping the benefit of others tightly, so this is the summary of the teaching, and it should be taken as the root of practice. Turn back and look back, stare and stare. Loosen and leave it loosely. That way, it won't bind, but you'll want to be liberated. This is to say, whatever subtle or gross afflictions and thoughts arise, if you follow them and your mind wanders outward, you will be no different from an ordinary person, and your actions will become evil. Therefore, turn your mind greatly inward and look nakedly at its essence. Having looked, shatter it completely in the emptiness that is not seen. By loosening and letting go, no matter how many thoughts and afflictions there are, they will not bind, but will transform into a collection of self-liberated wisdom. This is the essence of the practice stages of ultimate bodhicitta. Thus, for Lord Atisha...

From the precepts of the one supreme being, Arising from the mind-training instructions, however many different lineages of guidance exist, all the key points of practice are contained within this Seven Points treatise.
