Do not fixate your eyes and mind on anything; simply let the sky remain in a state of non-thought. As for meditation, the key points of body and speech are the same as before. The key point of mind is to focus intently, with un fabricated clarity and awareness, on whichever clear appearance of emptiness arises. By merely recognizing the awareness that is the seer and the seen, and remaining without affirmation or negation, knowledge does not remain within, and appearances do not remain without. In the state of inexpressibility and freedom from elaboration, the continuous remembrance of self-recognition is a branch of wisdom. Experiencing the appearances of one's own mind as emptiness is a branch of conceptualization. Furthermore, knowing that all elaborations and characteristics, such as objects and subjects, are transcended is a branch of conduct. Being pervaded by unprecedented bliss in body and mind is a branch of bliss. The very arising of samadhi as bliss, unwavering bliss, is a branch of intense cultivation. When all five branches are fully complete, the yoga of meditation is perfected. The uncommon signs are also: radiating light, being subtle, shimmering, trembling, and being indestructible—that is, in the center of the bindu endowed with the five qualities, various images of the Buddha, along with manifold vajra-like reflections of form, sound, smell, taste, and touch, will appear, and thus the appearances of conventional reality will be spontaneously realized as being like illusions. At this time, if the emptiness that is initially focused upon is unstable and wavering, do not follow it; instead, persist with the way of seeing and the awareness that was initially focused upon. Gradually, the emptiness will coalesce and become stable in that which the mind is focused upon, so this is extremely important. Once the branch of wisdom has arisen, first mix it with the activities of small, inconspicuous objects, such as a black pebble, and become accustomed to it. Then, gradually mix it with increasingly larger activities, until eventually all appearances transform into emptiness. Do the same with sounds and so on. If stability in emptiness has not been attained, then focus solely on gathering inward in equipoise. In the post-meditation state, observe any activity with a broad perspective, clearly recognizing the nature of the inseparability of the seer and the seen, which is clear and without conceptualization, and maintain that state. During these times, if experiences of the body, speech, or mind arise as signs of the arrival of wisdom, it would be a great obstacle to regard them as madness or wind disorders and treat them accordingly. It is better to let the experiences run their course, as the qualities will increase like the waxing moon. In general.
