In the extremely dark night, sit in the lotus position, place your hands in fists on your thighs. Keep your spine straight without leaning forward or backward. Press the Adam's apple with your throat, touch your tongue to the upper palate. Gaze at the sky sixteen finger-widths above your eyebrows, without opening or closing your eyes too much, but looking upwards into the pitch-black darkness. It is good if you can stabilize this even for a short time. First, exhale gently three times, then let it flow naturally. Do not think of anything in your mind, remain in a state of non-thought. If, due to lack of familiarity with the three solitudes, the yoga of non-thought does not reach the essential point and you are controlled by dullness and agitation, then focus your awareness and strongly direct your consciousness towards the center of the sky through the method of gazing. Leave the present awareness uncorrected and effortless. If you are aware, there will be faults in meditation, so making non-fabrication the basis is essential. If there are problems with the body posture (such as the genitals) and mental states (such as dullness and agitation), even if you meditate for a long time, you will not generate experiences and signs, but obstacles will arise. Therefore, from the beginning, it is very important to properly adjust the body and mind posture and not fall into a state of indifference. If you grasp the essential point, before long, the breath will enter the central channel, and as a symbol of seeing a glimpse of the nature of the Sugata-garbha, you will see smoke, mirages, sky-like appearances, and lights. This is the yoga of the night. After resting a little, when there are no clouds or breezes, in a place where you can see a clear and vast sky, keep your body in the shade, avoiding sunlight. In the morning, face west, and in the evening, face east, also avoiding sunlight and snow mountains from hitting your eyes. With an extremely wide-open, wrathful gaze, look at the clear blue cloudless sky, and let your mind rest equally, inseparable from clarity and emptiness. In this way, six signs will appear: sparks, the moon, the sun, the vajra, the supreme part, and bindus. The ten signs combined from before and after are definite signs. Due to differences in faculties, even if countless uncertain signs appear, seeing the contracted signs and the appearance of emptiness is a sign of the path, and you should not be attached to good or bad. At this time, no matter how many emptiness-forms you see,
