Abridged from the Rite of Erecting One Hundred and Eight Stupas by Khenchen Zhiwa-tso: The Immaculate Path. Herein dwells the rite of erecting one hundred and eight stupas, abridged from the work of Khenchen Zhiwa-tso, entitled "The Immaculate Path." Homage to the Guru, the Perfect Buddha! From the culmination of the two accumulations, the crown jewel of the Victorious Ones, the deity appearing as a mudra endowed with four liberations, the one who demonstrates the union of tantra and tantra, to Zhiwa-tso and the lineage, I pay homage with reverence! The relic-filled stupa, praised as truly spoken, the method of purely accumulating merit, I will explain the order of practice in brief. When erecting many Sāca, such as hundreds of thousands, it is difficult to complete the elaborate, medium, or brief rite of erecting one hundred and eight stupas, so if you wish to do it easily, then perform the preliminary purification and arrangement according to the practice of the elaborate or medium rite. In the main rite, there are three parts: closely accomplishing the field of merit, accumulating merit with the ten branches and reciting dharanis, and concluding with accumulation, purification, and so on. The first has two parts: preparation and the actual practice. The first has five parts: seating, invocation, accomplishing the offerings for oneself and the front, and blessing with great knowledge. The first is: when placing the stupas in the center of the mandala: Oṃ supratiṣṭha stube svāhā. May all the essence of the sky, earth, and ocean be filled with many forms of stupas. The second is accomplishing oneself: clearly visualize oneself as the body of Vajradhara. From the vajra and five fires on the moon in the heart, radiate the wisdom light of the Buddha mandala. Filling the inside of the body, from the pores of the hair, bless the sentient realms pervading the ends of the sky. Accomplishing the purpose, it gathers again and dissolves into the body. In the precious palace, within the equality of the Dharmadhatu, Accomplished from the five pure and clear wisdoms, In the very center of the vase of all stupas, The stainless essence has a golden color, In the four directions and the center, the five Tathagatas reside, The five seed syllables are clear, five wisdom lights radiate, The clouds of the Sugata's body pervade the sky, Transforming all realms of the world into pure lands. Having accomplished the benefit of beings, they again dissolve into the heart, The activity purifies all obscurations, transforming into the three vajras. (Continued). Fourth is preparing the offerings: Om Sarva Puja Pushpe Svaha. The Samantabhadra offering cloud is vast and inexhaustible, May it be offered to each and every stupa. Above the scented water, from the letter A arises a moon disc, Light radiates, the scented water transforms into wisdom nectar. Make the mudra of offering water. Om Amrite Argham Pratichchha Svaha. May all the noble ones be pleased. The mudra is like clouds of an ocean, from the crown of the head, Spread out and dissolve into the wisdom body, May the complete empowerments be bestowed.
