Having received and offered a small amount, immeasurable fruits are obtained, and fame spreads far and wide. Through the blessings of the yidam's prophecy and prayers, the nine great paṇḍitas and their retinues arrived in Tibet. The wishes of the great Khro lo, such as the consecration of the great Maitreya statue, were completely fulfilled. Having followed masters such as Sakya Chag and Zhang lo, all the great spiritual friends in Tibet, the Dharma wheel of Vinaya, Sutra, and Secret Mantra was widely turned. Especially the explanation and practice of the Vinaya, like a river in the heavens, immersed the two glorious names in Lake Manasarovar. As long as the Buddha's teachings last, it will be the nourishment for all who desire liberation, descending without interruption. Having spent ten summers in the land of snow, many fortunate ones were placed in the state of non-retrogression. Again, going to the land of Kashmir, the great deeds of the Buddha's teachings were accomplished. At the age of ninety-nine, he passed away to the heaven of Tushita. Rainbows, light, and showers of flowers covered all the lands. From the sound of divine music, two hundred paṇḍitas attained samadhi. You are the crown jewel of all who strive for discipline and are learned. Throughout India and Tibet, you are universally renowned without dispute. I pray to the feet of the Kashmiri mendicant Shakya Shri, who is radiant and possesses miraculous powers! In the pure land of renunciation and discipline, the trees bearing the fruits of mind and samadhi ripen. Nourishing beings with the essence of liberation, may your biography be accomplished through blessings! In the abode of Tushita, may you please the Regent Maitreya and his sons, and with the miraculous powers of upholding, propagating, and protecting the sacred Dharma, may you fill the realms of the ten directions! May the activities of explanation and practice of the Vinaya Pitaka, the root of the teachings and the sacred Dharma, spread throughout the earth. May the sun of the victorious teachings never set, and may it always illuminate the world, including the gods! This is a prayer to the great Kashmiri mendicant, the root of the Vinaya teachings of the upper region. It was written by Karma Ngawang Yonten Gyatso at the Dharma assembly of the summer retreat of the monks at Palpung Monastery, at the long-standing request of the master Karma Wangchuk, who possesses knowledge and realization, and recently at the special request of the abbot Lama Tashi Ozer, who holds the Pitaka.
