Instructions on the Eighteenth Volume of the Damngak Dzö: The Text of the Hundred and Eight Profound Instructions. Instructions on the Eighteenth Volume of the Damngak Dzö. The Text of the Hundred and Eight Profound Instructions. The Text of the Hundred and Eight Profound Instructions is respectfully presented herein. The Instructions on Separating from the Four Attachments. The instructions on separating from the four attachments are as follows: First, generate refuge and bodhichitta. Attachment to this life is like a bubble in water. Attachment is worthless, so contemplate that there is no certainty when you will die. Contemplate that there are many causes of death. Contemplate that death is of no benefit whatsoever. With these three, generate a desire to practice the Dharma from the depths of your heart. This is the beginning of the instructions on turning the mind to the Dharma. All of the three realms of samsara are like a poisonous fruit. Although they appear sweet at first, once they are consumed, they cause pain and death. Who would be attached to that? It is self-deception. Contemplate the state of samsara. Even if you attain the status of a universal monarch, you will eventually die and perish. Contemplate that you have not escaped suffering, and thus embark on the path of Dharma. Attachment to your own benefit is like nourishing the son of an enemy. Although it may seem pleasing at first, it ultimately brings harm. If you are attached to your own benefit, it may be comfortable in the short term, but ultimately it will be an obstacle to enlightenment. Therefore, it is not enough to liberate only yourself from the suffering nature of the three realms, because every sentient being has been your parent. If they all attain the supreme bliss of Buddhahood, then I would gladly be born in hell for countless eons. Repeatedly generate such thoughts in your mind and diligently cultivate them. This will eliminate the delusions on the path. If you are attached to things and characteristics, it is like mistaking a mirage for water. Although it may appear as water at first, it cannot be drunk and will not quench your thirst. Although samsara appears illusory to the mind, if you examine it carefully, you will find that nothing is truly established. Therefore, do not dwell on the past, do not project into the future, and do not let consciousness dwell on the present. Be certain that all phenomena are free from elaboration. In this way, illusory appearances will arise as wisdom, and you will attain Buddhahood, it is said. The Dharma heard at the very beginning of everything, the instructions drawn from the joyful song of one's own mind, the path that reveals the unraveling of the knots of the mind, written according to the words of the supreme lama. This instruction manual on separating from the four attachments was extracted from the works of Nüpa Rigdzin Drak, and embellished with the words of Chöje Paldan Sakya Pandita.

The instruction manual of the mother. The instruction of the Seven Points of Mind Training is: First, take refuge and generate bodhicitta. The common preliminaries include the common Dharma of the preliminary supports. The main practice is the method of meditating on the two bodhicittas: Sit upright with your body straight. Count your breaths, exhaling and inhaling, twenty-one times without making mistakes. All phenomena appear as objects of perception like a dream. In reality, it is the mind that is deluded and manifests. There is nothing whatsoever apart from the mind. When you think like this, examine the nature of unborn awareness. Rest in the state where nothing whatsoever is established in nature. If you think that objects and mind are empty, look at their essence. Rest in a state of clear luminosity, without grasping anything with the mind, free from the gathering and scattering of the alaya consciousness and the seven consciousnesses. Afterwards, contemplate the outer world and inner beings as illusions. First, contemplate that your own mother has been immeasurably kind to you since beginningless time. All the suffering and arising of suffering that exists in your mother's continuum enters your own heart. When it enters, generate a strong desire for joy. Give your own happiness and virtue to your mother. May she immediately attain happiness, have all favorable conditions, and become a Buddha. Similarly, contemplate in this way for all sentient beings, including your father. When the breath goes out, contemplate that all your happiness and joy goes out with it to others. When the breath comes in, contemplate that all the sins and suffering of others comes into you. For agreeable and disagreeable objects, may all sentient beings who generate the three poisons of attachment, aversion, and ignorance, possess the three virtues. Recite these words in all activities. The order of receiving wishes. Take on the suffering that will arise in the future now. If you fear the consequences of sin and harm, take the suffering of sentient beings upon yourself. Especially when a harmer appears, whether human or non-human, contemplate that it is driven by your own bad karma that this person is now committing the sin of harming you, and that he will experience the suffering of its consequences in the future. Generate compassion and strongly practice exchanging self and others. For people and dogs, strive to give actual benefits as much as possible. If it is a ghost, think: Come and eat my flesh and blood, and accept it with equanimity in your mind. Whatever adverse conditions, outer world and inner beings, or suffering arises, contemplate that these are all false appearances, like being burned by fire in a dream, or being carried away by water and suffering. If you look at its essence, it is the unborn Dharmakaya, the unceasing Sambhogakaya, the Nirmanakaya that dwells nowhere, and the inseparable Svabhavikakaya. This is the introduction to the view of the four kayas. If leprosy or other diseases occur
