It's like a rainbow arrow standing upright. Also, in that place, a direct disciple of Khri chen rdo rje 'chang, named Hos ru bla ma ngag dbang rab brtan, when performing Phowa (transfer of consciousness) for a deceased person, forcibly drilled a hole the size of a palm in the crown of the head, and a yellowish liquid with heat came out from the crack. My supreme protector, the omniscient one of the sleeping quarters (gzims 'og thams cad mkhyen pa), when he was young, a monk from Nalanda Monastery passed away, and he was initially invited to perform Phowa. When he bestowed the blessing of Phowa together with the attendant Amdo Lama Ngagwang Yeshe, that lama placed a small handful of barley grains in the hair parting on the crown of the corpse's head, and then gave the visualization of Phowa. When he recited a few phaṭ (藏文,梵文天城体,phaṭ,摧破), the barley grains scattered into the bone crevices with a sound like armor. Later, Kyabje (庇护主) himself said that although he did not have such abilities, that lama's Phowa was very well practiced. But in reality, this did not exceed Kyabje's (庇护主) blessings. According to the definitive teaching, just as Dharma King Phagpa said, "The magic of the realized Chinese person is also mine, and my magic is also his." This shows the greatness of both the teacher and the disciple. The signs that appear are probably like that. Furthermore, when performing Phowa, the appearance of white liquid and blood-colored liquid flowing from the left and right nostrils of the corpse, the sound of "svāhā (藏文,梵文天城体,svāhā,成就)" coming from the mouth, and the presence of a foul smell, etc., are also signs of successful Phowa, which was heard from the presence of Je Lama (至尊上师). Nowadays, if a small tuft of hair can be pulled from the crown of the head, it is considered that Phowa has been successful, and if it cannot be pulled, it is considered that it has not been successful, which is what most patrons and offering places believe. But this situation does not seem to be very certain. Regardless of whether signs of successful Phowa appear or not, generally, one or two days after death, or when the weather is warm, a slightly longer time after death, or when hair falls out when pulled, and the opposite is more difficult. Also, if Phowa is performed shortly after death, the hair cannot be pulled from anywhere else, but if it is pulled from near the crown of the head, it will fall out immediately, and liquid will flow from that place, and in winter, the liquid will gradually freeze.

If tears freeze into hailstones the size of a thumb, or if crystals of that size appear, it seems to be a definite sign that it has hit the mark. When such definite signs of hitting the mark appear, and it is appropriate to settle, it should be concluded with pure dedication and aspiration. This is "The Iron Hook that Leads the Fortunate to Liberation: A Powa Guidance" composed by Rongton Omniscient. When this transmission and detailed guidance were offered to the presence of the reincarnation of the glorious Ami Chöjé, Ngawang Kunga Gyaltsen Trinley Tenpai Drönmé, the attendant monk Jampa Ngawang Namgyal said, "In order to prevent the lineage of this profound Dharma from declining, please write a guidance manual." Accepting his request, the Shakya monk and Dharma speaker Jampa Trinley Yönten wrote this by hand at the great Nalanda Dharma College. May it be virtuous and auspicious! Sarva dā maṅgalaṃ! May there be auspiciousness always!)
