The Thirteenth Volume of the Instructions Treasury. Profound Chö Instructions, Showers of Desires. The Thirteenth Volume of the Instructions Treasury. Profound Chö Instructions, Showers of Desires. Profound Chö Instructions, called Showers of Desires, is presented. The very nature of being free from elaboration, the body, speech, and mind of the incomparable lama, after paying homage to the Great Mother Prajnaparamita, I shall write the order of Chö instructions. In this, there are two aspects: identifying the demons to be severed, and how to sever them. The first is as stated by Machig Labdrön: demons with obstacles and demons without obstacles, demons of joy and pride, and demons of arrogance. Among these four demons, the first is: fire, water, poison, weapons, wild animals, etc., that appear in the realm of the five senses. Demons without obstacles are: externally, gods and demons that appear to the human eye and wander in the sky. Internally, they are afflictions, illnesses, suffering, etc. Demons of joy and pride are: the desire to obtain fruits and benefits. Demons of arrogance are: the arising of various thoughts. Secondly, the means to generate what has not arisen, the means to increase what has arisen, the means to give after increasing, and the accompanying teachings of severance. In the first of the four, there are six aspects: showing the individual who performs the severance, showing the necessary equipment, showing the dangerous places to go and who dwells there, showing how to go there, the order of visualization of how to generate, and showing the measure of generation and the measure of completion. The first is: the individual, the best, must possess the four greatnesses that arise from below; the intermediate, must have great faith and not lose the order of visualization; the lowest, must also have diligence and little attachment. The second is: the instruments are the leg bone trumpet, skull, damaru, small stool, human skin, etc., as cushions, and a small bear skin mat four fingers wide. The third is: the hollows of hills and dry places, rivers and wet places, the shady places at the top of cliffs, the tops of rocky mountains, cemeteries, empty valleys, empty houses, solitary trees, nine-headed springs, seven-headed springs, five-headed springs, three-headed springs, springs, pools, puddles, etc., where the sun does not shine. In short, any place that is frightening is a dangerous place. Among them, in the nine-headed spring dwell Naga demons, in the seven-headed spring dwell Brahmins, in the five-headed spring dwell royal lineages, in the three-headed spring dwell merchants and commoners, and in the water where the sun does not shine dwell Naga servants.
