With the intention to confess my sins with my mind, rejoice in merits, urge the turning of the wheel of Dharma, pray not to pass into Nirvana, and aspire to rely on the path of omniscient Bodhi. From this time until I attain the omniscient Buddhahood, I and all sentient beings equal to the extent of space take refuge in the Great Mother, the Perfection of Wisdom. I take refuge in the perfectly complete Buddha, Shakyamuni. I take refuge in the Buddhas of the ten directions. I take refuge in the Dharma. I take refuge in the Sangha. I take refuge in the precious Lama with his lineage. May all sentient beings be liberated from suffering and all causes of suffering, and attain great bliss. Repeat this three times. Second, the uncommon offering of the body: Imagine your own body as food with a hundred flavors, white and round, like Mount Meru. First, cut off the head and offer it to the Lama and the Three Jewels, and imagine them enjoying it with joy. Similarly, offer all the limbs, small limbs, and internal organs, etc. Furthermore, if you like elaboration, give it to the Dharma protectors and the eight classes of gods and demons, as well as all the guests of compassion, and imagine that all their desires are fulfilled in their respective realms. Then, the self, the offerer, the object of offering, and the offering itself, the body, etc., are all regarded as unattainable, and remain in a state of equanimity in which all elaborations are pacified. This is the ultimate refuge, and abiding in it is the intention of the Buddha. This is the instruction for entering refuge and generating Bodhicitta, and it should be diligently practiced. Second, the main part has three aspects: For those of superior intellect, the instruction is without memory and without mental activity. For those of intermediate intellect, the instruction is the separation of body and mind. For those of inferior intellect, the practice is to abandon the aggregates as food for demons, and the cutting of conceptual proliferation. There are three types. The first of these is that we have not cut off the thought of increase since beginningless time, so we cling to samsara and nirvana as things to be abandoned and adopted, and rely on the appearance of form, sound, smell, taste, and touch on the side of the obstructed sense consciousness.
