The Tenth Volume of Instructions Treasury. The characteristic of the glorious Lower Druk Thukpa Kagyu, transmitted from Dharma Lord Lorespa, the instruction and guidance of the five "Ables," Dharmakaya Itself. The instruction and guidance of the five "Ables," the characteristic of the glorious Lower Druk Thukpa Kagyu, transmitted from Dharma Lord Lorespa, is called Dharmakaya Itself Arising. Namo Guru. Within the glorious Drukpa Kagyu, the characteristic of the Lower Druk, transmitted from Dharma Lord Lorespa, the practice of the instruction and guidance of the five "Ables" is divided into three: preliminaries, main practice, and concluding guidance. First, in order to reverse attachment to samsaric dharmas, meditate on impermanence: one will definitely die, the time of death is uncertain, death cannot be averted, where one goes after death is uncertain, the only benefit for this is the supreme Dharma, through these five points generate weariness and renunciation. In order to purify sins and obscurations, recite and meditate on the Vajrasattva Hundred Syllable Mantra. In order to complete the accumulation of merit, offer the mandala. In order to receive blessings, practice the Guru Yoga until signs arise. Second, the main practice has five: the basis is Mahamudra Able to Stabilize, the branch is Tummo Able to Endure Cold, secret conduct Able to Reside in Mountains, illness and demonic obstacles Able to Subdue, the antidote is adverse conditions Able to Transform. First, it is divided into three: the disciple seeks the nature of mind, the guru reveals the nature of mind, the determination of the pith instructions. The first is: observe whether the root of samsara and nirvana, the root of attachment, hatred, happiness, suffering, etc., is in the mind or not. Where does this mind, which diversifies into various thoughts, reside? What is its shape? What is its color? Also, if you meditate on a great fire in front of you, will the mind be burned and scorched? If you soak it in a great water, will it be soaked? If you cut it with a sharp weapon, will it be cut? Also, observe those who generate hatred when thinking of enemies. Observe those who generate compassion when thinking of relatives. Observe those who generate desire when thinking of wealth and possessions, and thus search for the mind. If you find that the mind is like this, then investigate whether it is the mind or not. If you do not find it, then observe the nature of non-existence. Both investigate the thoughts of the seeker, not through understanding, examples, etc., but the root of all is the mind. There is nothing on the mind.

You must know that unobstructed manifestation will arise in accomplishment. Second, regarding introduction, there are three points. First, the gazing of the Hearers is: Go to an extremely secluded place, sit with the body upright, arranging the seven-point posture of Vairocana. About one cubit in front, fix the gaze on a support object, such as a piece of wood or a pebble. Do not tighten the mind, but relax from within, without thinking or contemplating any knowledge of the past, future, or present. Abide in a state of non-fixation. Do not engage in any attachment, aversion, clinging, rejection, or acceptance regarding any of the six consciousnesses' thoughts, but relax in an uncorrected state of mind, loosely and comfortably. Initially, practice short sessions with many repetitions, then gradually lengthen the duration, eventually training to continue throughout the day and night. Second, the gazing of the Bodhisattvas is: Lower the gaze to the tip of the nose. Without scattering awareness elsewhere, relax and abide, with the mind unseen by the Buddhas of the three times. Relax in a state where phenomena are not established as inherently true. Whatever appearances of the six consciousnesses arise, all are self-empty. Do not grasp at mere emptiness, but abide in a state of non-grasping, detachment, and non-correction. Third, the gazing of the Vajradhara is: Fix the eyes without wavering on the empty, clear sky in front of the tip of the nose. Relax and abide in a state of non-thinking and non-contemplation, loosely and comfortably. Look without seeing, abide in a state of non-thought, non-speech, and freedom from fixation. This is the introduction. For those searching for the mind, once a day. For the introduction, when words and concepts are few, stay for a moment each time, then extend it again to seven days. Third, establishing it with pith instructions: From the seventh day, if the nature of mind is recognized, then the mind is unborn, beyond thought, phenomena are unreal, free from elaboration, the ground is rootless, without a basis, the union of clarity and emptiness, there is nothing to meditate on, explain with scriptural quotations from sutras and tantras. As it says in the Mother Tantra: The Buddhas of the past, future, and present have not seen, do not see, and will not see the mind. And: There is no mind on the mind, the nature of mind is luminosity. And as it says in the Hevajra Tantra: There is no meditation, and no meditator. And so on. Relying on the words of the accomplished ones, have faith in emptiness. Samsara and nirvana are the magical displays of the mind. Previously, because the mind was not known to be unreal, suffering of samsara was experienced. Now that it is known, wandering in samsara and experiencing suffering is meaningless.
