Dreams and, how is the intermediate state? Because of constant practice and familiarity, one desires the mandala in this way. Thus it is said. These are the actual five dharmas, and because the illusory body is shown by the power of dreams, they are the six dharmas. These show the method of abiding on the path. The third, the order of arising of the fruit, has two parts: the cause of the accomplishment of the fruit, and the fruit accomplished by it. The first is: the order of arising of the fruit is: first, it arises like the warmth of fire; second, it arises like bliss; third, non-thought arises. After that, conceptual thoughts cease by force. One sees signs such as smoke. The four elements cannot harm. When continuous non-conceptual wisdom arises, one obtains the supreme accomplishment. Therefore, practice is the main thing and is very important. Secondly, there are two: the common state and the ultimate supreme fruit. The first is: showing the fruit of practice, the signs of the state arise, and the accomplishment of the great seal is also spontaneously accomplished in an instant. The four joys are also accomplished by force. One can endure external heat and cold, and cannot hiccup, and there are no beings on the body, and the flesh shines from within, and the body is not stained with dirt, and it is as light as cotton, and it is soft in any stretching or bending, and one cannot feel the coming and going of breath, and there is little earwax in the mouth and nose, and the thoughts of sleep cease, and the thought of food and drink is small, and one hears sounds in the ears, and one is skilled at answering questions, and one speaks sweetly and pleasantly, and one is skilled in the combination of words, and one subdues the faults of others, and one is humble in one's own virtues, and one's words are in accordance with the meaning, and one is content with things, and one becomes weary of one's retinue, and one is happy in solitary places, and one desires to live alone, and one desires to meditate again and again, and one cannot feel that one's body exists, and one has no certainty in places, and the assemblies of dakinis gather, and prophecies appear in dreams, and one is proficient in the Dharma, and clairvoyance gradually arises, and pills etc. of the earth above, on the earth, and below the earth are accomplished, and the ability to transfer consciousness appears, and one knows the distinctions of recitation, and the breath is long, even if held.

Without harm, and even if bound for an eon, it can persist, and when the time comes, it releases, and like killing the gods at the wrong time, etc. Even if various abilities arise, do not trust it. If trust arises in it, one will become a slave to the demon of discursive thoughts. That is that, but not that itself. It is a sapling, but not a fruit. It is merit, but not a non-conceptual person. Second, the extent of understanding of the true meaning is like the dream of a mute person, or the joy of a young woman, it can only be expressed symbolically, but not completely and manifestly. That cannot be expressed. Third, there are two meanings that arise from that: removing obstacles and examining the qualifications of the vessel for the teachings. The first is that for those who are endowed with karma and fortune, it is difficult to be obstructed by the enemies of the four maras. Although there are countless remedies, pure appearances and devout reverence are paramount. Second, do not give to those who accumulate wealth, are deceitful and cunning, and those who are complacent with much learning, and those who teach relying on material possessions, hide your heart. For those who are able to endure asceticism and patience, disregarding great suffering, and who are able to stabilize the continuum and prolong practice, give in accordance with their capacity. Third, concluding with an appendix: This is the teaching of the venerable Naropa, the experiential words of the lamas, and the way in which one's own experience arises. The brief distinction of the lineage of the six dharmas of Naropa and the key points of the oral instructions, composed by the protector of beings, Pal Phagmo Drupa, written down by Bande Tashi Pal. May it benefit fortunate students! Śubhamastu sarva jagatāṃ (藏文:ཤུབྷ་མསྟུ་སརྦ་ཛ་ག་ཏཾ།,梵文天城体:शुभमस्तु सर्व जगताम्,梵文罗马拟音:Śubhamastu sarva jagatāṃ,汉语字面意思:愿一切世界吉祥!).
