Having taken refuge and generated the mind of enlightenment, visualizing the field of merit, offering the seven branches, and supplicating for desired goals, perform them properly. Then, from the perspective of relying on the spiritual friend, the root of the path, remember the refuge lama. Preceding with the practices of the small and intermediate persons, remember the six realms of beings as your parents through the practice of the great person. In particular, by training in the last two perfections, calm abiding and insight, remember the emptiness of the mind's nature. Practice these as they appear in the instructions of the stages of the path to enlightenment, training the mindstream is the common preliminary practice. Secondly, within the main practice, there are also five remembrances. First, remembering the refuge lama: In the sky in front of oneself, remaining in an ordinary state, is a wish-fulfilling tree that can grant all needs and desires simply by remembering it. In the center of the tree with its fully arranged trunk, branches, and leaves, resides the root lama in the form of the noble four-armed Avalokiteshvara. Starting from the lineage of lamas of the Garland of Jewels, the lamas reside in tiers like a staircase. With the main lama as the principal, the ocean of refuge jewels surrounds them like an open sesame pod or dust motes in sunbeams, appearing vividly. In their presence, all sentient beings, oneself and others, are situated like specks of dust on the great earth. Generate strong faith and conviction from all directions. It is said that reciting the mantra at the beginning of a session will multiply any virtuous deeds. Therefore, recite as much as possible: "Om Sambhara Sambhara Bimana Sara Maha Jambhava Hum Phet Svaha." Then: Leader, unequaled teacher, Bhagavan, Protector of the snowy mountains, venerable Avalokiteshvara, Queen Mother Tara, Bhagavan, immovable protector, I pray to the four deities of the Kadampa. Maitreya, Asanga, Vasubandhu, the assembly of liberation, The supreme assembly, the assembly of discipline, and the assembly of fame, Simhabhadra, the two Kushalis, and Serlingpa, I pray to the lineage of vast conduct. Manjushri, who transcends existence and non-existence, Nagarjuna, Chandrakirti, the great cuckoo of wisdom, Buddha's intention protector, the noble father and sons, I pray to the lineage of profound view. Great compassionate one, Sugata Vajradhara.

Om! Supreme Tilopa and Naropa, Glorious Dombipa and Atisha, I pray to the lineage of practice and blessings. The protector Atisha, who illuminates the good path, Gyalwa Dromtönpa, the father of the Kadampa teachings, And Lekpai Sherab Gyaltsen and others, I pray to the lineage lamas. Turning away from worldly concerns, adverse conditions arise as friends, Engaging in the great practice of exchanging self and others, Uprooting the root of samsara with the view, increasing practice, May I be blessed to traverse the common good path. Entering the gate of secret mantra, guarding vows properly, With the yoga of the deity, deep and clear, non-dual, Manifesting the essence of the union, the bindu of the heart, May I be blessed to become the protector of all beings. With this abbreviated lineage prayer as a preliminary, Fearing and dreading the suffering of samsara and its causes, with heartfelt refuge, I and all sentient beings, from this time until the essence of enlightenment, take refuge in the supreme of the two-legged, the Buddhas, the Bhagavat. I take refuge in the supreme of dharmas, the peaceful dharma free from attachment. I take refuge in the supreme of sanghas, the noble Bodhisattvas, the great sangha of non-retrogression. Thus, take refuge as much as possible. Second, remembering all beings as parents: Knowing that all limitless beings are kind mothers, to repay their kindness, may the mothers who fill the sky have happiness, be free from suffering, for this I will attain the state of perfect Buddhahood, for this I will practice this profound path. Thinking thus, I request all the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas abiding in the ten directions to consider me. I and all the remaining sentient beings who are equal to space, the nature of generosity, the nature of morality, and the nature of meditation that have been done in this life and other lives, and the roots of virtue of encouraging others to do and rejoicing in what others have done, with this root of virtue, like the Buddhas, Arhats, perfect Buddhas of the past, and the Bodhi
