Quintessence of Instructions, Volume Four Mindo Jongma Jadu Jom (Mind Training: The Peacock That Destroys Poison) Quintessence of Instructions, Volume Four Mindo Jongma Jadu Jom (Mind Training: The Peacock That Destroys Poison) Herein lies the teaching called "Mind Training: The Peacock That Destroys Poison." Called "The Peacock Wandering in a Forest of Potent Poison" Homage to the venerable Lord of Death, the Slayer! When the prince has liberated all, like giving the kingdom to sons and daughters, give away without poverty all the very precious wealth and retinue. When the prince has become greatly courageous, like a tigress feeding on her own flesh, give this very cherished illusory body with joy to the assembly of flesh-eaters. When the king has become the power of loving-kindness, like a yaksha feeding on his own blood, give this warm heart's blood that is difficult to cut, with love to those who drink blood. When the merchant's son draws water, like leading the fish who recite the names of the Sugatas, give the gift of the sacred Dharma to all beings who are impoverished in Dharma. When the prince has become greatly virtuous, like forgiving evil deeds with compassion, have special love with great compassion for the conflicts of evil deeds and bad character of the retinue. When the Bodhisattva has become a monkey, like drawing sinners from the place of the well, even if it is impossible to benefit the wicked, guide them with compassion that does not desire good in return. Alas! There is no one who has not been a parent. There is not a moment of happiness in the place of samsara. The assembly of the wicked is like a usurious debt. Now, if you do not respectfully take up this biography of the Great Sage Hero, then the practice of entering the hero is also impossible. Therefore, dedicate your life and rely on hardship. After the Sugata showed the way to pass away, those who wish to learn after him, if they do not rely on such a practice on their mindstream, there is fear that the happiness of beings will be exhausted. Therefore, no matter what happens, dedicate your life to hardship. This is the practice of entering the hero. The first chapter is the essence of poison. Called "The Peacock Wandering in a Forest of Potent Poison" Homage to the venerable Lord of Death, the Slayer! This Dharma is for all who seek life and the meaning of a hero, like a beautiful peacock in the forest of samsara.

At the foot of the tree of the five poisonous afflictions, the poison has matured, and one should not seek other medicines. Like greed, if one does not conform to others, there is a risk that the greedy will practice evil ways. Like the poison of greed, it should be destroyed. When the flower of the poison of hatred burns, like a Yama executioner, If one does not show an angry face, there is a risk that the hateful will create obstacles. Like the enemy and obstacle of hatred, it should be killed. When the poison of ignorance is mixed with mud, if one does not generate patience like a corpse, There is a risk that evil people will commit sins, and like ignorance, one should cultivate equanimity. When the tree of the poison of jealousy grows, if one does not distinguish between inside and outside, like you and me, There is a risk that heretics and others will destroy the Dharma, so like jealousy, one should protect the sacred Dharma. When the tree of the poison of pride burns, if one does not maintain masculinity like pride, There is a risk that the hordes of demons will deceive, so one should protect the essence of the Buddha's teachings and destroy the heretics. Thus, all the armies of poison are unreal, appearing empty, like illusions. Bind the clinging to self into one, and devour it like a peacock. Although all kinds of things appear in the minds of others, in the end, do not lose the firmness of the antidote. Bet your life on abandoning good and evil, and even if you encounter suffering, you should gladly accept enlightenment. Thus, even if you are proficient in all that is to be known, if you do not abandon your own happiness, There is a risk that greed and hatred will arise due to greed, so you should beat selfishness like beating a dog thief. Attend upon the wise, and if you do not study the scriptures, There is a risk of falsely slandering the wise, so you should be familiar with all that is to be known. Even if you suffer day and night, if you do not think about the faults of the whole of samsara, There is still a risk of entering the cause of suffering, so you should engrave the faults of karma in your heart. Even so, you should rely on unpleasant suffering as an antidote to destroy self-grasping. Even if billions of demon armies rise up as enemies, you should abandon the fear of "I". Even if you fall into the lower realms for the sake of others, you should cultivate joy because there is no regret. Even if the life-taking executioner strikes the body, you should
