Please bless me! I will learn as the Buddhas of the past have learned. (Recite) three times. And "Now we have the fruit of life," etc., and the dedication and aspiration prayers such as "The Bodhicitta is a precious jewel," etc., interspersed with taking the vows of a Bodhisattva, thereby purifying the vows in one's own mindstream. Then, ascend to the high seat on the great Dharma throne. After that, when the disciples have bathed and are seated in order, the teacher, with the wisdom that realizes all phenomena as emptiness, and the compassion that desires to place all sentient beings in happiness and well-being, and especially with the good intention of wanting the disciples to generate the mind of enlightenment, should say this: We have accumulated burdens of sin from beginningless lifetimes, which are inconceivably numerous on our consciousness. If we do not confess these sins, the virtuous deeds we do will be weak and will not become a path that pleases the noble ones, so we must confess. Moreover, it is said that if we confess with the four powers, no matter how great the sin, it can be purified. In order to accomplish this, please visualize as follows: In the sky in front, on a jeweled throne supported by lions, sits the lord of the teachings, the lion, with a body color like pure gold, and his hands in the earth-touching and meditation mudras. Around him, countless Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, with the thirty-five Buddhas as the main ones, fill the sky, abiding there. This is the power of reliance. In front of them, oneself and all other sentient beings emanate countless bodies, heads, and tongues, and generate strong remorse for the sins committed in the past. This is the power of regret. From now on, even if it costs our lives, we will not commit evil again. This is the power of remedy. After acting in this way, have firm faith that all sins will definitely be purified. This is the power of restoration. Remembering these, recite the confession three times, accompanied by prostrations. After saying this, while prostrating, lead the recitation of the confession three times. Then, when everyone is seated, the teacher says this: We have obtained the rare and precious human body with leisure and endowments, and we have encountered the Buddha, who is difficult to meet.

I was fortunate to encounter the precious Dharma. In this era of having freedom over samsara and nirvana, one must strive to attain the essence of leisure and endowment. As the venerable Nagarjuna said: Like a blind turtle floating in the ocean, encountering a yoke with a hole, it is extremely difficult to obtain a human body from an animal. Those who have a human body, please make it meaningful by practicing the sacred Dharma. Thus he said. Among the sacred Dharmas, the main cause for liberating oneself and all other beings from suffering, and for attaining temporary and ultimate happiness, is the mind of enlightenment. As the Compendium of Trainings says: Those who desire to end all suffering, and wish to go to the other shore of happiness, if the root of faith is firm, then establish your mind on enlightenment. Thus it is said, in the practice of the ceremony of generating the mind, which possesses immeasurable qualities, first, briefly describe the way to settle in the nature of the vows. The nature of the mind of enlightenment, its divisions, the boundaries of each, the cause of the mind of enlightenment, the benefits and faults, the differences in the ceremony, etc. First, it is the desire to attain Buddhahood for the benefit of others, as the Ornament of Clear Realization says: The generation of the mind is for the sake of others, desiring perfect and complete enlightenment. And as the Ornament of the Sutras says: The arising of the mind possessing two benefits. Thus it is said. Secondly, in terms of divisions, the desire to attain Buddhahood for the benefit of others is the aspiration, and going towards Buddhahood for the benefit of others is the engagement, like the analogy of wanting to go with thought and going with action, as the Guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life says: The mind of enlightenment, briefly summarized, should be known as two types, namely the mind of aspiring for enlightenment, and the engagement of enlightenment itself. Just as the difference between wanting to go and actually going, likewise, the wise should gradually understand the difference between these two. Thus it is said. From the perspective of conventional and ultimate truth, there are also two types, as the Nirvana Sutra says: By the difference of conventional and ultimate, the mind of enlightenment has two types. Thus, the conventional mind of enlightenment is that which arises mainly in ordinary beings, focusing on external sentient beings, and the ultimate mind of enlightenment is that which arises mainly in the lineage of noble ones, focusing on the mind itself. Therefore, the aspiring mind of enlightenment is the aspiration for enlightenment.
