The Third Volume of the Quintessence of Instructions. The Third Volume of the Quintessence of Instructions. A Guide to the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment, called "The Easy Path to Omniscience." A Guide to the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment, called "The Easy Path to Omniscience." Homage to the lotus feet of the venerable and holy Lama, inseparable from the Powerful One, Vajradhara. Please hold me with great love. Here, for fortunate individuals, the profound method for proceeding to the state of Buddhahood is the guide to the stages of the path to enlightenment, which has two parts: 1. How to rely on a spiritual friend, the root of the path; and 2. The order of how to train the mind after relying on one. The first has two parts: 1. How to act during a session; and 2. How to act during the breaks between sessions. The first of these has three parts: 1. Preliminary practices; 2. Main practice; and 3. Concluding practice. The first, the preliminary practices, is as follows: In a pleasant place, on a comfortable seat, sit in the eight-fold posture or whatever posture is comfortable. Examine your own mind stream well, and in a state of special virtuous intention, in the space directly in front of you, on a high and vast jeweled throne supported by eight great lions, on a seat of various lotuses, moons, and suns, visualize your own kind root guru as being in essence, but in appearance as the Victorious Shakyamuni, with a body the color of refined gold, a crown protuberance on his head, one face and two arms, the right hand in the earth-touching mudra, and the left hand in the gesture of equipoise, holding a begging bowl filled with nectar. He is beautifully adorned with three saffron-colored Dharma robes, and possesses the clear and luminous nature adorned with marks and signs. In the center of the mass of light born from his body, he sits with his two legs in the vajra posture. Surrounding him are the assemblies of gurus, yidams, Buddhas, bodhisattvas, heroes, heroines, Dharma protectors, and wisdom beings, both actual and from the lineage. In front of each of them, on a perfect throne, are the teachings of scripture spoken by each of them, in the form of books of luminous nature. All the fields of merit also look upon you with pleasure, and you also have great faith in remembering the qualities and compassion of all the fields of merit.

Thinking thus in my heart: "I and all mother sentient beings, from beginningless time until now, have generally experienced samsara, and especially the various sufferings of the three lower realms. But the depths and end of suffering are still difficult to perceive. Therefore, now that we have obtained this precious human body, which is difficult to obtain and of great significance once obtained, if we do not immediately attain the supreme state of Buddhahood through the Guru, which is the liberation from all the sufferings of samsara, then we will again have to experience the various sufferings of samsara, especially the three lower realms. Therefore, the Guru Three Jewels, who have the power to save us from those sufferings, are present before us. For the benefit of all mother sentient beings, I must attain the precious state of perfect and complete Buddhahood. For this reason, I wholeheartedly take refuge in the Guru Three Jewels." Thinking thus, first cultivate refuge, bodhicitta, and the four immeasurables. In particular, for the benefit of all mother sentient beings, I must quickly attain the precious state of perfect and complete Buddhahood. For this reason, I will enter the teachings and practice of the stages of the path to enlightenment through the profound path of Guru Yoga. Thinking thus, do this seven or twenty-one times, etc. Then, in the space directly in front of oneself, on a high and vast precious throne supported by eight great lions, on a mandala of various lotuses, moons, and suns, the essence of which is one's own kind root Guru, the form of which is the Victorious Shakyamuni Buddha, with a body color like pure gold. From "like..." to abiding in the vajra posture. Above and behind him, on a mandala of various lotuses, moons, and suns, the Victorious Vajradhara abides, surrounded by the Gurus of the eight branches of practice and blessings. On the right side, the Venerable Maitreya abides, surrounded by the Gurus of the vast conduct lineage. On the left side, the Venerable Manjushri abides, surrounded by the Gurus of the profound view lineage. In front, the Gurus who have a Dharma connection with the kind root Guru abide, surrounded by...
