Qiaojue Zang, Volume 1, Great Perfection Heart Department Guidance Text. Qiaojue Zang, Volume 1 Great Perfection Heart Department Guidance Text Great Perfection Heart Department Guidance Text, respectfully recorded, Niang lineage. Homage to the Gurus). The all-pervading, primordial teacher, Samantabhadra. For the sake of taming beings, he manifested in an ordinary form, enabling the fortunate ones to be established on the path to enlightenment. I prostrate at the lotus feet of the great Lama, the King of Dharma. That Buddha, whose own mind is primordially pure, wanders in samsara, deluded by the suddenly arising stains of delusion. In order to be liberated from the ocean of suffering samsara, the stages of the Great Secret Guidance are spoken of here. What is called our mind, this aware and vibrant thing, although it arose simultaneously and primordially with Samantabhadra, Samantabhadra was liberated by knowing it as himself. We sentient beings, because we do not recognize its nature, wander endlessly in samsara. We have taken and abandoned countless bodies in the six realms. All that we have done has been meaningless. Now, at this time when we obtain a human body once in a hundred eons, if we do not accomplish a means of not being reborn in the lower realms, then after death it is uncertain where we will be reborn. No matter where we are born in the six realms, we will not be free from suffering. In hell, there is the suffering of heat and cold. In the preta realm, there is the suffering of hunger and thirst. In the animal realm, there is the suffering of being exploited, fighting, and being ignorant. Humans have the suffering of birth, old age, sickness, and death, and those who have possessions toil to maintain them, while those who have nothing struggle in poverty. There is the fear of encountering enemies, and the worry of being separated from loved ones. The suffering is inconceivable. Asuras also have the suffering of fighting. Devas also have the suffering of falling. The Lama will explain this in detail. As it is said in the sutras: Even if samsara is as small as the tip of a needle, there is never any happiness. So it is said. It is not enough to merely obtain a human body, because we do not know when we will die. Therefore, we must practice the true Dharma right now. We must be like the venerable Milarepa, who had no regrets at the time of death and did not blame himself. My Dharma of Milarepa, does not deceive oneself. So it is said. Gyalwa Yang Gonpa said: All those with heart should plan for themselves. If you do not deceive yourself, then you should practice one Dharma from the heart. So it is said. Because we constantly remember that death is uncertain, we should abandon worldly activities such as subduing enemies and protecting friends.
