Sixth, the chapter on the secret of the Vajra Mind. Sixth, the chapter on the secret of the Vajra Mind. ༈ Second, regarding the classification of mantras, there are actually two types: the classification of new mantras and the classification of old mantras. The first has four points: the general nature of mantras, classification, the difference between inner and outer, and detailed explanations of the inner path. First, the general nature has four points: definition, characteristics, etymology, and categories of names. First, the definition is: the nature of luminosity, the indivisible sphere of body and wisdom, naturally pure, and all practices based on it, including objects and methods of practice. This also includes four aspects: the basis of practice, the object of practice, the method of practice, and the result of practice. The Dharma nature of the luminous sphere, naturally pure, is the basis of practice. Sudden obscurations of karma and afflictions, the dharmas of samsara, including the eight consciousnesses of the alaya, are the impurities to be practiced. Among them, the alaya with various habitual tendencies is the root of samsara, so it needs to be transformed. Although the meaning of the alaya of the nature of reality does not change, the named part of the term alaya will change and become the wisdom of the Dharmadhatu. The way the remaining four wisdoms manifest from the transformed part of the other consciousnesses has already been explained. By bestowing the four ripening empowerments, and by practicing the generation stage and completion stage of liberation, the parts that newly generate qualities and belong to the path of wisdom are the methods of practice. In this way, through practice, all obscurations of the Dharmadhatu are purified and transformed into Bodhi, the body and wisdom naturally manifest, and the nature of accomplishing the ultimate benefit of oneself and others is known to be the fruit of purifying the impurities of the Dharmadhatu. As it is said in the Accomplishment of Secrets: "The Dharmadhatu is free from defilements and attains the fruit, mantras are divided into four types." Second, the characteristic is: the Dharmadhatu is naturally pure, and the expressed secret of the Vajra Mind and its retinue. As it is said in the Vajra Peak Sutra: "The characteristic of all mantras is the mind of all Buddhas, it is the essence of accomplishing the Dharma, and it is completely in accordance with the Dharmadhatu." Third, the etymology is Mantra-yana (藏文:མནྟྲ་ཡཱ་ན་,梵文天城体:मन्त्रयान,梵文罗马拟音:mantra-yāna,汉语字面意思:真言乘), which means the vehicle of mantra, derived from "Marana."

Because of 'byin pa', 'ma' is the mind that holds onto the meaning of self. Because of the addition of 'tha' to 'tra', 'trata' means to protect, which means to protect quickly and protect with ease. Quick protection refers to overcoming unfavorable circumstances by transforming afflictions into wisdom in an instant. Easy protection refers to the meaning of desire appearing as a helper without the suffering of asceticism. As it says in the Maha Maya, 'By relying on the five qualities of desire, one can accomplish whatever is comfortable.' The meaning of these is that the mind consciousness quickly protects and easily protects from the fear of samsara, so it is called 'ngags' (mantra). As it says in the Uttaratantra of the Guhyasamaja, 'ma is called mind, tra is the meaning of protecting.' And as it says in the Rali Secret Nectar King, 'Because it protects the mind, it is a mantra. Because it makes one's own mind capable and protects from conceptual demons, this is called the king of mantras.' Because of the addition of 'he du' to 'ya', 'ya he tu' is the nature of cause. Because it abides in the spontaneously accomplished ground, it is a vehicle. The afflictions that depend on it also appear as helpers through skillful means. That is, at the time of the ground, the three poisons themselves are cultivated by knowing the path of skillful means and wisdom as non-dual. At the time of completion, they go to the place of the three bodies, so it is called a vehicle. 'Ya marga' means that at the time of the path, the three poisons are cultivated by maturation and liberation, so the three of bliss, clarity, and non-conceptuality arise in union, which is known as the nature of the three bodies. The word 'ya ma' means 'ma', so it goes to the result, so it is a vehicle. That is, at the time of the result, in the realm, the three poisons are purified by power, ignorance and non-conceptuality are the dharmakaya, desire and bliss are the sambhogakaya, and hatred and clarity are the nirmanakaya. These three poisons are practiced in an ordinary way and liberated by skillful means. Binding the continuum with vows and samayas is the mantra vehicle. As it says in the Guhyasamaja, 'Liberation from worldly conduct, what is said is vows and samayas, the protection of all vajras is called the mantra vehicle.' And as it says in the Vajra Dakini Ocean, 'Because it enters well into all Mahayana, it is the mantra vehicle.' Fourth is the name.
