Finally, all the outer and inner worlds are destroyed. That also has three stages: abiding, decaying, and emptiness. In this uncommon vehicle, sixty intermediate eons are equal to sixty intermediate eons, so one hundred and eighty combined equally are called the first long eon. One hundred and eighty long eons are called the second intermediate eon. One hundred and eighty intermediate eons are considered to be one great eon. Those are also stated in the Madhyamika-karika: 'The change of time is like this, from the immeasurable beginning to the last ten, there is upward increase and downward decrease, divided by the three minor eons of disease, famine, and weapons. After sixty have passed, there are again seven of fire and seven of water, so after fourteen are completed, the remainder is destroyed by wind. Thus, sixty abide, and the duration of decay is also the same, and in between the sixty, there is a state of emptiness. Thus, one hundred and eighty are considered the first long eon. Thus, one hundred and eighty are the second intermediate eon. Thus, that much combined is one great eon.' So it is said. The detailed certainty of these reasons, as extensively explained in the Extensive Tantra of the Wish-Fulfilling Tree. In the 'Treasury of the Supreme Vehicle,' the explanation of the outer and inner world is the second chapter. Second Chapter: Explanation of the Outer and Inner World.
