There are eight states of unfreedom. The first eight are: hell beings, hungry ghosts, and animals are not free because they are tormented by their respective sufferings; long-lived gods are not free because the basis for hearing and thinking is blocked; barbarians are not free because they have no perception of the Dharma; those with wrong views, the tirthikas, are not free because of their wrong views; those born in the dark ages when there is no Buddha are not free because they cannot even hear the sound of the Three Jewels; the mute are not free because their minds do not turn towards the Dharma. The eight types of unfreedom due to immediate circumstances are: being disturbed by the five poisons, being foolish and ignorant, being possessed by demons, being lazy, having a great ocean of bad karma erupt, being under the control of others, being afraid of protection, pretending to be Dharma. The eight types of unfreedom due to immediate circumstances are: turning away from the path of liberation, not being a vessel for the Dharma, being completely reversed. Even if one is born as a human being in a place where one can practice the Dharma, if the five poisons are very coarse, so that one's mind is always disturbed, and if one is foolish and ignorant, led by evil friends, and if one is lost on the path because of wrong views and actions, possessed by demons, and if one wants to learn the Dharma but is lazy without diligence, and if one is diligent but cannot generate qualities, having a great ocean of bad karma erupt due to heavy sins, and if one has no autonomy, being enslaved by others, and if one enters the Dharma for the sake of food and clothing in this life or out of fear of harm, but because of old habits from the past, one engages in non-Dharmic behavior, and if one pretends to be Dharma, seeking wealth and respect and fame, these eight are also not places to practice the sacred Dharma. Therefore, because there is no connection with the path of liberation, it is called reversed in order not to waste leisure. The eight types of unfreedom due to broken lineage are: being bound by strong bonds, having extremely bad conduct, not fearing samsara, having no faith at all, not doing good deeds, committing sins, having no mind for the Dharma, being called having broken vows and commitments. The eight types of unfreedom due to broken lineage are: being far from the Dharma, the lamp of the path of liberation is extinguished. Being firmly bound by the bonds of wealth, possessions, children, riches, relatives, and so on in this life, and because of having a bad nature, not having even a sesame seed of character, and generating disgust for conduct.

Neither does one generate fear of the faults of falling into evil destinies and samsara, nor fear of the sufferings of this life, nor is there any interest in praising liberation and the qualities of the Three Jewels, and even if one sees a place with qualities, there is no faith at all, one delights in unwholesome deeds and sins, the three doors cannot be subdued, and one is blind to the sight of qualities, virtues, and the holy Dharma, like placing grass in front of a dog. Having entered the common vehicle, one cannot escape the evil destinies due to the breaking of bodhicitta and vows. Having entered the secret mantra vehicle, one breaks the vows to the lama and dharma friends. These eight are said to be far from the holy Dharma and extinguish the lamp of liberation. Regarding the breaking of vows, the Tingngezin Gyalpo says: "By immoral conduct of discipline, one will go to evil destinies, even if one hears much, it cannot protect one." So it is said. Regarding the breaking of samaya, the Doha says: "Alas, having given the land of the teachings, if one does not have samaya, like a king seizing a person to be punished, the iron hook of karmic ripening seizes the life force, and pouring boiling molten iron into the mouth is extremely difficult to endure." So it is said. Meaning summary: Because we were not born in these places, we generate joy and practice the holy Dharma. Like this, I was not born in the twenty-four unfavorable places, and relying on the holy lama, I am able to practice the profound Dharma, thinking of this, I feel happy, and I should always strive for virtuous Dharma, passing the days and nights. The second reason for the difficulty of obtaining a human body is: Like this, if one sees only the bodies of sentient beings, obtaining a human body is like obtaining a Chakravartin king. Among human bodies, those who have faith and practice the Dharma are even rarer, so it is like obtaining Buddhahood. Therefore, one should always contemplate leisure and endowment. If one thinks of sentient beings in general, it is like the expanse of space. The sentient beings of Jambudvipa are like the part of space in the eye of a needle. Not to mention other places outside of Jambudvipa. If one looks at the creatures appearing in a forest, or a stream of water, or a puddle, then obtaining a human body is like obtaining a Chakravartin king in terms of quantity. If one thinks of humans, India, China, South, North, Mon, Nepal, Domi, Mongolia, etc., in each place and market, even if there are many gatherings,
