Collected Works of Translator Lotsawa Lojongpa JLP18: The Fulfillment and Offering Ritual of Glorious Great Black Vajra (Mahakala) 1-566 The Fulfillment and Offering Ritual of Glorious Great Black Vajra (Mahakala) The Fulfillment and Offering Ritual of Glorious Great Black Vajra (Mahakala) Namo Guru Shri Mahakalaya (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning: Homage to the Guru, Auspicious, Great Black One). The Fulfillment and Offering Ritual of Glorious Great Black Vajra. I prostrate to the glorious Guru and Great Black Vajra (Mahakala) with his retinue. The emanation of Vajradhara, the supreme protector of the teachings! I prostrate to the Bhagavan, the Great Glorious Black Vajra! I prostrate to the messengers and their retinue! Now I write the fulfillment and offering ritual that eliminates all fears. The Practice: This ritual has three main points: preparation, main practice, and conclusion. First is the preparation, which is further divided into two aspects: the method of arrangement and the blessing of the offerings. First, in a secluded place, properly arrange the three supports of the Buddhas (statues, scriptures, stupas). Set out offerings and tormas without mixing meat and blood. Starting from the preliminary practices, generate oneself as the deity. Perform the front generation, torma offering, and tsog offering. Use an area of about an arrow's length as the base for the torma, build Mount Meru, and construct four tiers of steps. Erect spears at the four corners, pointing upwards. Connect the top layer with nine threads, sealing it off, and above it is an eight-spoked wheel, radiating light, covered with a beautiful net woven with five-pronged vajras and silk threads. Hang thirteen victory banners, weapons, and various ornaments such as armor. Draw the five-colored sky, arrow banners, and thirteen colorful banners. Hang silk, tiger skin, cotton cloth, and various colored paints, as well as various medicines and armor. On the base covered with human skin, place large red tormas at the four corners. Offer with blood, place blood cups, and light a ghee lamp filled with oil on each of the four sides. Shape the food offerings, eye offerings, attendant offerings, and fierce foods into the form of a great Garuda, and place them on top of Mount Meru. Below that, place many black birds, and behind them are dancing black people. Below that, place black yaks, black sheep, and black horses in order. Scatter flowers of the five senses on the sides of the base tiers. Display the fragrance of bile, various foods made of meat and bones. Arrange medicine water, sugar, jewels, and various fulfillment substances beautifully. Tie a flag to each of the four corner spears, and hang hand drums, conch shells, and bells. Second, blessing the torma offerings: Transform the torma into inner offering, and recite: Om Vajra Amrita Kundali Ghana Vajra Svabhava Atmaka Sarva Dharma Svabhava Shuddho Ham (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning: Om Vajra Amrita Kundali Ghana Vajra Svabhava Atmaka Sarva Dharma Svabhava Shuddho Ham, oṃ vajrāmṛta kuṇḍali kha kha khāhi khāhi sarva pāpāṃ praṇāśaya svāhā, Om, Vajra Nectar, Kundali, eat, eat, eliminate all sins, Svaha). Recite: Svabhava Shuddha Sarva Dharma Svabhava Shuddho Ham (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning: Svabhava Shuddha Sarva Dharma Svabhava Shuddho Ham, śūnyatā sarva dharmāḥ śūnyatā jñāna vajra svabhāvātmako 'haṃ, Emptiness, all dharmas, emptiness, wisdom vajra nature). From emptiness, arise the outer world surrounded by human skin, four pegs, Mount Meru, and black iron mountains, with flags of the four activities fluttering on the four spears, possessing the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment, gathered. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
