The procedure is as follows: A person who has received empowerment and is capable of practice prepares a vessel of water near the corpse (the body devoid of consciousness), along with the five preliminary offerings, purifying substances, a mirror, a bathing basin, etc., as well as fragrant perfume, butter, or water mixed for anointing the corpse, and a cloth for wrapping the exterior. The vajra, bell, vase, conch shell, Dharma instruments, and vajra stake that appear in the text below are arranged in front of oneself. The self-generation is as follows: Primarily focusing on the object of visualization, all sentient beings equal to the sky, from this time until reaching the essence of enlightenment, take refuge in the glorious and precious lamas. Take refuge in the perfectly enlightened and victorious Buddhas. Take refuge in the sacred Dharma. Take refuge in the noble Sangha. Recite this twenty-one times, etc. Then, with palms joined, 'To the lama and the Three Jewels, I prostrate and take refuge. Please bless my being. All phenomena are empty and without self; may the sins and obscurations of all sentient beings who have not realized this be purified and may they be placed on the ground of Buddhahood. For this purpose, I will practice the yoga of the Bhagavan Kunrig (藏文，梵文天城体，梵文罗马拟音，汉语字面意思).' Thinking thus, make the vajra-holder mudra at the heart three times, generating the mind of enlightenment.
