Colophon: This completes the text entitled "A Rosary of Jewels: Instructions for Treating Planetary Influences." Is it a peaceful form adorned with marks and signs? Yet it is not so, for it is fearsome and terrifying. Is it a peaceful speech endowed with sixty melodious tones? Yet it is not so, for it proclaims the sound of Hūṃ (Tibetan: ཧཱུྃ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: हुं, Sanskrit Romanization: hūṃ, Chinese literal meaning: Hum). Is it a peaceful mind filled with loving-kindness? Yet it is not so, for the wicked are afraid. Although you are the father of all Buddhas, I bow to the lotus feet of the foremost of sons. Although born from a lotus, free from faults, you dwell amidst the suffering of this degenerate age. Although my mindstream is filled with love and compassion, you manifest emanations to subdue the wicked. Although you abide in the unchanging realm of Dharma, you fulfill the diverse hopes of those to be tamed. Having paid homage to the Guru Padmasambhava, I will write down the instructions for pacifying fierce planets. These consist of three parts: signs, treatments, and protections. First, the signs, both general and specific. General signs include an inability to move the mouth, stiffness, paralysis, and vomiting. Numbness, dizziness, headache, chills, fever, and falling. Blurred vision, deafness, muteness, and confusion. Red and wild eyes, twitching, trembling, and unhappiness. Incontinence of urine and feces, and a constant throbbing of the facial veins. Specific signs: if on the right side of the body, the mouth and nose are dry. High fever, thirst, and the appearance of sparks on the teeth are signs of a fire planet. If on the left side of the body, there will be a small swelling, cold sores. Excessive saliva, drowsiness, diarrhea, and a belly full of yogurt. Trembling, fear, chattering teeth, and excessive tartar are signs of a water planet. Excessive sleep, heaviness of the body, yellow skin, and difficulty speaking. A desire to sit still and speak little are signs of an earth planet. Pale face, insomnia, frequent yawning, and mild thirst. Dizziness, fluctuating moods, and a wandering mind. Forgetfulness and memory loss are signs of a wind planet. A bony protrusion behind the ear, a depression when pressed with the thumb. Red spots indicate fire, blue spots indicate water. Red fingernails indicate fire, white fingernails indicate water. Specifically, mix white incense and camphor. Bless it with the mantra of Vajrapani (Tibetan: ཕྱག་ན་རྡོ་རྗེ།, Sanskrit Devanagari: वज्रपाणि, Sanskrit Romanization: Vajrapāṇi, Chinese literal meaning: One who holds the vajra). Have the patient bow their head and fumigate them with a mixture of their own hair, nails, and salt. If any of the following occur: stinging, numbness, muscle twitching. Or if the cataracts are worse than before, it is definitely a planetary influence. Alternatively, take a small amount of camphor, fennel, and garlic. Mix it with water, cut the top of the medicine in half, and have the patient drink it. If it descends into the heart, it will cause madness and muteness; if it descends into the internal organs, it will cause vomiting and diarrhea. If it descends into the kidneys, it will cause incontinence of urine and feces. If it descends into the spleen, it will cause hemiplegia; in short, wherever it descends. That disease will recur and worsen, do not be mistaken.

This is the method of examining (the cause of the disease). Or use white sandalwood, grassland sandalwood, calamus, and dried wheat. When burned, if the muscles are red and the mouth and nose are dry, it is fire. If there is a lot of water in the mouth and nose and the muscles are bluish, it is the planet of water. Musk, white and black guggul, black pearls. Acorus calamus and Stellera chamaejasme, these six things are finely ground into powder. Apply it to the back of a mirror without rust. oṃ cu du ā ya śa lā ṇa svāhā (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་ཙུ་དུ་ཨ་ཡ་ཤ་ལ་ཎ་སྭཱཧཱ།, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ cu du ā ya śa lā ṇa svāhā, Literal Chinese meaning: Om Zadu Aya Shala Na Svaha). Recite it three or seven times, facing the medicine and the mirror. Smoke it with incense, and the patient looks in the mirror. If you see red, it is fire; blue, it is water. Yellow is earth; white is the planet of iron. If you see green, it is considered the planet of wood. If it falls on the muscles and skin, the mouth and eyes will be crooked. If it falls on the veins, the limbs will be numb and stiff. If it falls on the heart, memory will be lost and it will be difficult to speak. If it falls on the lungs, there will be coughing and hoarseness. If it falls on the liver, there will be vomiting of blood and blurred vision. If it falls on the spleen, the muscles of the ribs will atrophy and the body will be bent. If it falls on the kidneys, the ears will be deaf and the pulse and fluids will stop. If it falls on the stomach, there will be vomiting and diarrhea in the intestines. Possessed by the companion moon king, one will be crazy and the body will be bent. Tears, mouth and nose, hair loss, vomiting, and throat blockage. If possessed by a female ghost, sexual desire will arise and filth will be discharged. If possessed by a mother ghost, one will fall off a cliff and semen, feces, and urine will flow out. If possessed by a demoness, the belly will be bloated and the face will smell unpleasant. Sometimes laughing and sometimes crying, it is the king of the war gods. Leprosy will cause the skin to blister and bring suffering. Numb limbs and crooked mouth and eyes are caused by the possession of the earth god. In this way, identify it through unmistakable signs, and the methods of treatment are imprisonment, subjugation, exorcism, and not showing it to the corpse, pacification, and purification. The first of these is imprisonment. oṃ be ta ri lā gra mo tsan śig zuṃ zuṃ (Tibetan: ཨོཾ་བེ་ཏ་རི་ལ་གྲ་མོ་ཙན་ཤིག་ཟུང་ཟུང༌།, Sanskrit Devanagari:, Sanskrit Romanization: oṃ be ta ri lā gra mo tsan śig zuṃ zuṃ, Literal Chinese meaning: Om Betari La Gramo Zanshi Zongzong). Recite this mantra and bless the white and black guggul. Let the patient drink the blessed water. Visualize yourself as the generation stage of the secret lord. Place the (spirit) to be subdued in front of you, and cross your hands. Place the right hand on the right and the left hand on the left. Grab the two ring fingers and say these words: Until there is my command, no incarnation or possession, and no guidance, grab, grab. After saying that, do not leave the place where it has fallen. Do not spread. Do not move. Do not shake. Recite it three times, remember the key points, this is very important. The second is subjugation, using a thorny tree. Gather everything you can find, the water sources of nine valleys, a clean girl wearing a lower skirt, a goat rope, and various musical instruments. On a cushion spread out in front of you, lay the patient down naked.
