《Swan's Questions and Answers: Essence of Clouds》. Oṃ svasti siddham. Swan's Questions and Answers: Essence of Clouds. Homage to the Holy Goddess of Speech! The guide of beings, the supreme among the great sages, the chief. Beings bow their heads to worship his feet, turning the fate of beings upwards, the helmsman of beings, I pay homage to you! The lotus lake where the flowers of poetry have not withered, captivating the hearts of intelligent swans, is inconceivable. Now, thinking of not staying and going elsewhere, I will speak of the Swan's Questions and Answers: Essence of Clouds. It is said that beside the snow mountain, the Lohita River flows slowly, and there is a place where many ancient heroes have stayed, called Glorious Samye (Samye Monastery is located in Shannan Prefecture, Tibet today). The garden of the ancient heroes, the place where the self-born lotus king descended, the basis of all teachings flourishing in the snow mountains, Glorious Samye is the source of goodness. From there to the south, not far away, there are continuous slopes where various trees grow, and a delightful pond where bees buzz in the flower bushes, the water is cool and blue, covered with a net of lotuses. There, the swan king is adorned with many virtues such as discipline, meditation, wisdom, and liberation, but is never seen by the people, and dwells together with many swans. Discipline is the necklace of adornment, wisdom is the wings of flight. The tamed body is beautiful and possesses the Dharma, but when there is no wealth, no one sees it, look at the scene of abandoning it like a lowly place! At this time, the swan king went to towns and temples for sightseeing, traveling around, just as the Buddha's teachings were declining in the last of the five hundred years, and the monks were also pursuing sensual pleasures and noise, lacking the wealth of the three studies and much learning, only the appearance of pretense remained, living by farming, business, and housekeeping, those who possess the Dharma are as rare as the stars in the daytime, and the self-righteous big shots also spend their days illegally, persecuting those who practice the Dharma properly, therefore, noble people are tired of it, and some people cry out in sorrow.

Revealing Faults: Alas, in these degenerate times of the five defilements, The sun of the Dharma is nearing its setting. Those worthy of offerings are but mere reflections, Claiming to be great, yet in a state of inferiority. Though wearing the monastic robes, their minds are filled with worldly thoughts, Though revered by many, they are but ordinary beings. Their deceitful meditation is as stable as a mountain, Veiled by a network of contrived discipline. Bound by the chains of desire for gain and worldly affairs. Likewise, some reflections of lamas, Are extremely wrathful towards those who possess the Dharma, Uttering praises for the non-Dharmic, Deceiving those who rely on them through skillful means. Furthermore, some reflections of lamas, Appear to teach the Dharma but engage in non-Dharmic conduct, Grasping at words while abandoning profound meaning, Bound by the chains of retinue and arrogance. Furthermore, some reflections of lamas, Are supremely foolish and deceitful, Like great figures amidst ignorance, Deceiving beings with non-Dharmic actions. Furthermore, some reflections of lamas, Are outwardly peaceful but inwardly harsh, Abandoning noble ones without wealth, Gathering foolish ones with wealth like clouds. Likewise, some ordained ones, Protect offerings but abandon discipline, Lacking patience and diligence, Casting aside meditation and wisdom far away. Not cultivating study and contemplation, but cultivating worldly affairs, Not possessing Dharma but possessing non-Dharma, Not upholding vows but embracing beautiful women, Not revering श्रेष्ठ(藏文,梵文天城体,梵文罗马拟音,汉语字面意思), but revering the inferior, Not looking upwards but looking downwards. Alas, how strange this is now! They strive especially to accomplish desires, But are indifferent to virtuous deeds, Hoping to attain happiness through sinful actions. Like householders, they have many tasks to do, Hiding their own faults and speaking of others' faults, Lacking order, they are crooked like trees. For the sake of evil companions, They slander the noble ones, Leading others onto the wrong path. They have no instructions for the clever, and the Dharma is not under their control, Cursing those who possess the Dharma, But holding the non-Dharmic in reverence. They rejoice at the sight of offerings of faith, And when they see desirable objects, they have the minds of householders. The non-Dharmic ones, Their minds and actions are in accord. They despise the noble ones especially. In the midst of crookedness, uprightness becomes a fault, Like carrying the burden of one who is suffering. The pool of compassion and faith , Are simultaneously dried up by hail. The wild geese wearing monastic robes , Wander through villages like lotus lakes. Indulging in intoxicating drinks
