Towns and temples are filled with sinful deeds, harming those who practice according to the Dharma. Even the ordained do not seek learning, discipline, and meditation, but instead sink into the mire of desires. Laypeople also lose their sense of shame and ancient good traditions, not honoring gods and parents, and living by deceitful actions. Seeing this, noble people also feel very sad, and some who practice according to the Dharma lament: Alas! In this place today, the sun of the good old days has set, and now the moon of the evil age has risen, the noble lotus withers, and at the same time, the sinful white water lily blooms, as if covered by the darkness of the demon army. Precious trees are entwined by venomous snakes, the cool lake of noble people has dried up, the sun of the teachings has fallen on the peak of the western mountain, and the eyes of virtuous beings also look to darkness. Hearing such talk by the pond, the swan king also felt sad. One day, some sons of gods who came from the snow mountain (Mount Kailash), riding in chariots of various tamed clouds, playing musical instruments, singing and dancing, showering perfume and rain of flowers, saw them flying east from the path of the sky, the swan king said: The gods in the cloud chariots, the light of offerings radiates in all ten directions, accompanied by musical instruments, hymns, and thunderous sounds, where are these great gods going?
