The Great Perfection Samten Ngalso is present. In Sanskrit: Mahasandhi Dhyana Vishranta Nama. In Tibetan: The Great Perfection Samten Ngalso, I prostrate to glorious Samantabhadra. The original nature, the expanse of purity equal to space, the supreme Dharma, unmoving, utterly free from elaboration, the luminous mind, the essence of enlightenment, the ground is complete, unchanging, I prostrate. The intention of the Buddhas, utterly wondrous, for the sake of each individual's self-aware wisdom to be realized, gathering the essence of the heart of tantras, transmissions, and instructions, listen as I explain how to practice. Mountain peaks, forests, islands, and so on, in places that are in harmony with the four seasons, one-pointed, unmoving, peaceful samadhi, luminosity, free from elaboration, should be meditated upon. Place, person, and the Dharma to be practiced, are accomplished from the purity of the three natures. The first place is a secluded and delightful place, in harmony with the yogas of the four seasons. In summer, enjoy the snow and mountain peaks, in bamboo huts, grass huts, and so on, meditate in cool places inside cool rooms. In autumn, forests, mountainsides, rocky valleys, and so on, in places and houses with moderate coolness and warmth, make food, clothing, and conduct in accordance with that. In winter, forests, caves, burrows, and so on, in low places, in warm places, make food, clothing, bedding, and so on in accordance. In spring, mountains, forest edges, islands, and so on, in houses with moderate coolness and warmth, it is very important to match food, clothing, and conduct. Because the outer and inner interdependence is the same, rely on a pleasing, secluded, and delightful place. Because the mountain peak is clear and vast, the place of clearing sinking is auspicious for the generation stage. In the snow, samadhi is clear and awareness is pure, it is a place to meditate on insight, with few obstacles. In the forest, awareness abides and the mind abides and arises, it is a place to meditate on calm abiding, with great ease. The foot of a rocky mountain is impermanent and increases sadness, clear and greatly blessed, calm abiding and insight are united and accomplished. The bank of a river is for those with narrow minds, renunciation arises immediately and newly. The charnel ground is greatly blessed and accomplishments are swift, it is said to be supreme in both generation and completion. City

I, like empty shops and solitary trees, etc., are places where beings, both human and non-human, wander. Initially, they distract one's mind and create obstacles in between, but for those who are stable, they are helpful and highly praised. Temples, stupas, and the abodes of demons are places where mental agitation, hatred, and conceptual thoughts arise. In places like caves, which are the abodes of demonesses, attachment arises, and agitation and dullness are especially strong. Solitary trees and the like are the abodes of mothers, dakinis, and cliffs, mountain peaks, fierce gods, and local deities. They are considered to be causes of mental agitation and many obstacles. The abodes of butchers, nagas, fierce spirits, and earth lords are places like lakeshores, dense groves, and forests. Places adorned with pleasing flowers and trees may be pleasing at first, but later they are full of obstacles. In short, places that are initially pleasant are places that become disliked after familiarity and have small accomplishments. Places that are initially frightening and disliked become liked after familiarity, and they are places of great blessing, great accomplishment, and no obstacles. Other than that, all others are intermediate, with no benefit or harm. Depending on the place, one's mind changes, and there are both increase and decrease in virtuous activities. Therefore, it is said that examining the place is extremely important. In summary, the places for the four activities are also four. The peaceful place is where the mind naturally abides. The increasing place is pleasing to the mind and full of splendor and radiance. The empowering place is captivating to the mind and full of attachment. The wrathful place makes the mind rough and causes fear and dread. The divisions and categories are numerous and beyond enumeration. Here, it is the supreme place of meditative quiescence. The others are not elaborated on due to fear of the letters. The meditation room in the peaceful place is suitable for seclusion and mind-holding arrangements. It is most auspicious to have a large, clear space facing the direction. The yoga of the night is a dark, circular room. The circular room is high up, with the center like a navel. The head is facing north, like the sleeping posture of nirvana. The place for the day is for the yogi of appearance, such as snow mountains, flowing water, forests, and villages. The corridor is wide and clear, and the sky is vast. The mind is clear and transparent, and the coolness and warmth are balanced. During the time of peaceful abiding, the secluded room is surrounded by a fence. It is auspicious to have a place where the mind naturally abides. During the time of higher seeing, it is important to have a clear and transparent space. It is important to always have a place that is pleasing to the mind and in harmony with the season. Low and dense places such as forests and valleys are places for peaceful abiding, while high places such as snow mountains are places for higher seeing. It is important to know the distinctions. In short, the location
