The Sequence of the Four Yogas. Homage to glorious Samantabhadra! From the beginning, luminous, spontaneously accomplished, uncreated, Like space, perfectly pure, the dharmadhatu, bodhichitta, In the realm of self-arisen wisdom, spontaneously accomplished, I pay homage in a manner without separation or union. To the essence of meaning, the bodhi dharmakaya, Although diligent and without striving, free from hope and fear, The path of certain entry into that realm, the great secret, Will be expressed in the manner of the four yogas. Among these, there are two: the instructions on how to practice, and the sequence of how to practice. The first is: One who has turned away from samsara and seeks liberation, possessing great faith, Should first rely on a qualified lama and make offerings, And fully receive the essence of the instructions. Abandoning all connections to samsara and all activities of this life, Go to a place unknown, or a vast empty land, or a secluded mountainside, or a dense forest, or an island in the ocean, and strive to practice alone. As it is said in the *Uttaratantra*: One who has faith and is disgusted with samsara Should make offerings to the lama and give generously. Abandoning all connections to samsara, Abandon companionship and dwell alone. One should practice by abandoning the nine activities: In terms of body, externally, abandoning the deluded activities of the world, such as going, staying, moving, and acting for the sake of trade, agriculture, etc.; internally, abandoning inferior virtuous deeds such as prostrations and circumambulations; secretly, abandoning the stages with signs, such as mudras and dances, and remain unmoving in posture. In terms of speech, externally, abandoning deluded talk and gossip; internally, abandoning discussions of Dharma; secretly, abandoning all expressions of speech, such as recitations and repetitions, and remain like a mute, not saying anything. In terms of mind, externally, abandoning the various deluded thoughts of the world; internally, abandoning thinking about Dharma; secretly, abandoning the practices of deity generation and so on, and remain unmoving in a state of non-conceptualization. In short, entering into the practice of the essential meaning, guarding the essence of the nature of mind, without distraction or confusion for even a moment, so that the three aspects of view, meditation, action, and result become naturally perfect, is the warmth of the essential points of practice.

The signs of attaining realization are: not losing sight of the illusions of this life for even a moment, the mountain of clinging to reality collapsing, and the need to bring (the practitioner) to the ultimate end of the meaning of reality. When abiding in solitude, when wisdom distinguishes between essence and dross, various things will be remembered, thereby losing oneself in what to do. Therefore, one must stabilize oneself and practice. There is no better opportunity than this now, at the juncture of samsara and nirvana, it is crucial to generate diligence and strive in practice. Worldly affairs, common Dharma practices, ordinary appearances, whatever it may be, let go of the big, abandon the small, and with firm vows, one must practice. Because of negative habits pursuing meditation, each recalls what they did before, crafts and skills, servants and food and wealth, fame and desires, etc., these hinder the practice of Dharma. Grasp them with mindfulness, how much was done before, how much was used, how long was maintained, no matter how long it was done, it is meaningless. From now until attaining enlightenment, vow not to let the mind stray even for a moment from the path of Dharma, with such a strong determination, generate diligence and strive in practice. Whether male or female practices, strong diligence is crucial. These are indispensable conditions for achieving the ultimate goal of Dharma, therefore striving for solitary abiding practice is crucial. Second, the order of how to practice has four parts: view, meditation, conduct, and result, integrating them into yoga. The first part has three: view like severing city noise, key instructions like placing mountains still, realization like completely liberating the three realms. The first is: the spontaneously accomplished wisdom of the Great Perfection, free from effort, the essence of which is not established anywhere, the nature of which is clear and pure, and compassion arises in any way. In the realm of awareness, emptiness, and primordial purity, all phenomena of samsara and nirvana appear as a play, like ornaments and skills, self-appearing, self-arising, and self-liberating. Furthermore, the self-nature of awareness is empty, clear, and transparent, and in the state of non-establishment, from the power of the spontaneously accomplished five lights, the external environment together with the body of appearance is established, appearing as an ornament of self-appearance, appearing as a play of wisdom, appearing as an unobstructed skill, yet appearance is not truly established. For example, the appearance of a dream, nowhere to be found, is the power, ornament, and play of self-appearance.
