, is the way of appearance of the body of the self-nature emanation. From that, the emanation body that tames beings arises. That is also appearing in various ways, knowing the meaning of various ways, appearing but not following to exhaustion. Thus it is said. The five appearances that appear in this way, all those that will be shown below, also arise from the realm of reality, simultaneously with the spontaneous accomplishment that is uncertain from the radiance of body and wisdom. From the great ground appearance, the enjoyment body, and from that, the self-nature emanation body, and from that, the emanation bodies that tame beings, arise without before or after. Like the radiance of a face appearing in a mirror, because it appears without before or after, it is said in order. It is said in order in relation to arising and the basis of arising, and it is not a sequence of before and after. Also, when that appearance arises in that way, the self-appearance of the primordial Samantabhadra arises from the realm of reality. Like the image of a face and a mirror, or like a body and a shadow, in the moment of distinguishing with knowledge, all the bases of self-appearance dissolve into the inner light. From the unchanging nature of the primordial realm of reality, for the benefit of others, spontaneously accomplishing, compassion and action, the miracles of blessings, appear in the self-appearance of the disciples' faith, which is effortless and naturally arising. Thus it is said, in the Tantra of the Wheel of Natural Bliss: From a small amount, it is natural, with vala, dispel and separate from imputation. Thus it is said, when wisdom appears for a moment at the beginning from the realm of reality, in self-appearance, it is distinguished by the awareness of hrig. In the second moment, all the obscurations of ignorance are dispelled by vala and awakened in the realm of reality. That itself is said in the Praise of Names: One moment distinguishes, one moment fully awakens. Thus it is. The way of knowing in self-appearance, in the All-Creating King, it is said: Like the example of a shadow's form, the eye that sees wonders. Thus it is. At that time, Samantabhadra attained the six dharmas and was liberated, which is: the key instruction that did not arise from scripture, the Buddha that did not arise from mind, the result that did not arise from cause, knowing self-appearance, self-arising, self-liberation, and became a Buddha. Not arising from scripture, without a teacher who indicates, therefore he became a Buddha by the glorious Natural Arising. Not arising from mind, wisdom itself is self-illuminating and becomes a Buddha. Not arising from cause, the knower himself is self-liberated and becomes a Buddha. Self-appearance, that is, the realm of reality, mind nature.

Then, luminous clarity dawns in one's own face. Self-arising is the very nature of awareness appearing as such. Self-liberation is when awareness, at the moment of awareness, is free from self-deception, realizing the primordial, great reality. Here, the term "mind-essence" refers to the exhaustion of mind, the very ground from which awareness arises, and not to mind itself. Some foolish and ignorant people, without distinguishing between mind and mind-essence, speak of them as one, which is utterly ridiculous. At that time, in self-appearance, awareness arises as an aid to awareness, and coemergent ignorance is destroyed. When awareness dawns, ignorance is absent, and the ignorance of the sole self-nature is destroyed. In self-appearance, self-awareness has no grasping of subject and object, and the ignorance of conceptual proliferation is destroyed. From the expanse of space, a slight radiance emerges outward. From the primordial state, there is a slight, momentary emptiness and movement, but immediately self-awareness liberates even the very knower. Because there is no clinging, when the mind of grasping subject and object is empty, the appearance of light and phenomena is known as the radiance of awareness-wisdom. In the instant of distinguishing between awareness and the radiance of awareness, ignorance dissipates, and one is free from the imputation of permanence and annihilation. Liberation in the primordial state is like the sky. At that time, the phenomena that arise from the expanse of space are unpredetermined, the basis of liberation and delusion. Self-appearance is known as the radiance of awareness, and it dissolves into the primordial state. Unpredeterminedness is self-destroyed, like the sun rising on Mount Potala (Potala, the abode of Avalokiteśvara), and the place of darkness naturally dissipates. As it is said in the Tantra of Intent and Oral Instructions: "At that time, the six dharmas of Samantabhadra, destroy the three: base, knowledge, and ignorance. In a small amount, there is a momentary emptiness. A little awareness arises, and awareness diminishes and vanishes. Brightness dispels the darkness within. Fiercely arising, there is no dimness. Free from imputation and denial, ignorance is purified. Unchanging, it is like the sky. Furthermore, Vajrasattva, listen! Confused ignorance is overturned and destroyed. The unpredetermined is self-destroyed and empty. Separating the inanimate and awareness, one meets the base. Therefore, the darkness of ignorance is dispelled, like the sun rising on Mount Potala." Mount Potala is all the mountains of the east. Just as the sun first rises and darkness dissipates, so the first wisdom is awakened by awareness. Having attained Buddhahood in the expanse of space, without moving from the expanse of space, the power of the great play of body, speech, and mind, and the aspirations of those to be tamed, accomplish the benefit of beings, like a reflection. As it is said in the Uttaratantra: "Without moving from the Dharmakaya,
