Obeisance to that which is primordially peaceful, free from all disturbances, naturally unwavering, clear, and vast. I prostrate to the self-aware wisdom of each individual. I will write the Krekchö instruction, Yerbab Sorzhak. It has three parts: the preliminary, demolishing the house of the mind; the main part, introducing awareness to its own face; and the subsequent, showing the method of cultivating appearances. The first part has three aspects: examining arising, ceasing, and abiding; examining one and different; and examining directly seeing one's own face. The first also has two aspects: examining the object. This mind, which appears as memory and awareness, affirmation and negation, does it suddenly arise, or at the time of arising, when it shines upon external objects such as earth, water, fire, and wind, does it arise from there? Or does it arise from one's own body? Separate these two with reason, and when it finally dissolves into indivisible particles, from where does it come? Similarly, now, when memory and awareness arise, where do they abide? When they disappear and cease, where do they go, inside or outside? If you think it exists, when it is divided into particles, from where does it arise when there is no substance? Where does it abide and cease? Having examined in this way, that object is also just an illusion like a reflection of the moon in water, and when there is no substance in reality, from where does it arise and abide? Since it is not a place of cessation, knowing that it does not arise from the object of the mind, the apprehended concept is purified like the sky, and realizing it as the nature of primordial emptiness and non-substantiality, the object is liberated into non-arising. Then, examining the mind that possesses the object. When it appears as memory and awareness, even if it does not arise from the object, does mind arise from mind, abide in mind, cease in mind, and dissolve into mind? If you think so, there will be the fault of two minds existing in one instant, that is, the mind that has arisen and the mind that can arise, the place of arising and the place of arising, the place of cessation or the place of dissolution, and the one who dissolves, there is the fault of duality. If it is one, two parts cannot occur at the same time, because it is contradictory for different substances to exist at the same time in one essence. If you think that mind arises from mind, does it arise from the cessation of mind, or does it arise from the non-cessation? According to the first, it would arise from something that does not exist, because cessation is past and non-existent. If you think so, mind would arise from no cause, because that is impossible. According to the second, mind

What will it become? Because it arises from the fact that one's own cause has not been severed. Because when the result exists, the cause exists without being severed. Furthermore, if one thinks that it arises from the previous mind, then do the previous mind and the present mind meet or not meet? If they meet, then that moment of meeting at that time, either it will become past, because it is a mind that meets with the same essence as the previous one. Or the previous mind will not be severed and will exist at that time, because it is a mind that meets with the same essence as the first moment of the present. Similarly, even if the mind dwells on the mind, the present moment of the mind has the fault of two entities, a place of dwelling and a dweller, and one mind that merges or ceases, and one mind that ceases, and the fault of becoming two entities at the same time. If you say that the mind exists, then you realists, what is the nature of your mind? What shape and color does it have? Where is it in the inner, outer, or middle of the body? If it is not in any of these places, then how do you know that the mind exists? Does that mind say, "I am the mind"? When the mind arises, is it written with the word "mind"? If you yourself think that this clear memory is labeled as the mind, there is no such saying or writing. If I myself think so, then if it is established because you labeled it, then think that this mountain is a pile of fire, and let's see if it will appear as fire in our perception. It will not become fire there, and if you think it is fire, it is because it is not fire. Whatever memory arises, it arises in meaning, and there is no one who causes it to arise, so it cannot be established as the mind, because one observes and clings excessively to what has not been separated from anything from the beginning. Thus, when examining the mind, when it becomes speechless and empty, this is called seeing the nature of the mind that cannot be expressed. Second, examining one and different, when joy arises in the mind, is that joyful mind and the image of a relative, the cause of joy arising in the mind, one or different? If it is one, it is not reasonable because there is no one place and one dweller, and because the mind of joy arises from the appearance of the image of a relative, it is also not reasonable that the two, earlier and later, are of the same essence, because the past and the present contradict each other at the same time.
