Now, the essence is inseparable from appearance and emptiness, the nature is inseparable from clarity and emptiness, and compassion is inseparable from awareness and emptiness. Again, the essence is inseparable from awareness and emptiness, the nature is inseparable from appearance and emptiness, and compassion is inseparable from clarity and emptiness. In the Tantra, it says, "In the beginning, middle, and end, in the inseparability of the three bodies, it abides in the continuum of all sentient beings." That is to say, no matter how the self-display of the three wisdoms manifests as the six aggregates and objects, the essence does not go beyond emptiness, so there is no ignorance or delusion. Because individuals understand it in this way, no matter what they do now, delusion is impossible. Furthermore, in the Jeweled Array, it says, "The complete Buddha is self-awareness itself; the essence does not change in the three times; the nature is always without cessation; compassion shines brightly on all." In short, if we gather it all together, in the Mirror of the Heart, it says, "Understand that all the dharmas of the ground are the three: essence, nature, and compassion. Among them, understand that all the dharmas of essence are emptiness. Understand that all the dharmas of nature are clarity. Understand that all the dharmas of compassion pervade all sentient beings." Such wisdom pervades Samantabhadra and even the smallest insects among sentient beings, without good or bad, high or low. Furthermore, in the Jeweled Array, it says, "Wherever space pervades, sentient beings are there; the meaning of awareness is also the same." And in the Garland of Pearls, it says, "The one mind that pervades all." And in the Mirror of the Heart, it says, "The one body that pervades all is the body of the Sugata-garbha." And "The Sugata-garbha pervades all beings." This shows the state of the initial general ground. Now, how the basis of delusion of ignorance arises from that will be shown in three parts: the three causes of ignorance, the three conditions, and the three results. In the Clear Expanse, it says, "In the beginning, ignorance arises from poison." Therefore, the three causes of ignorance are: essence, nature, and compassion. Samantabhadra, even without doing a speck of good, becomes enlightened by realizing these three. Sentient beings of the three realms, even without doing a hair of evil, wander in samsara due to ignorance of these three. That is, not recognizing that the essence is emptiness, not recognizing that the nature is clarity, and not recognizing that compassion is appearance and emptiness, thus wandering in samsara. In the Refutation, it says, "The cause of delusion is

Ignorance. Ignorance is of three kinds. Thus it is said. The three causes of delusion are: the cause of the cause, the cause of the object, and the cause of clinging to it. Moreover, although the above three wisdoms have no cause of delusion, they are deluded by the cause of ignorance. For example, although the sun has no basis or cause of darkness, it is like being obscured by fog in the middle. Among them, the first is called the cause of the cause, that is, the clear part of the essence of emptiness, the self-radiance of wisdom, exists in the form of a light-house, but it is not recognized as clear emptiness, and it is thought to be a real thing. This is called the cause of ignorance. Holding that cause as an object of self-grasping, it is called the cause of the object. Clinging to what appears as an object, the five elements are actually established, that is, the five spontaneously accomplished self-radiances are established as the five elements. From this, by the blessing of wisdom, the Saha world is formed. From the essence of the five outer elements, the sentient beings of the inner essence are formed. The way of formation is clearly shown in the Dakini's oral instructions. In short, those delusions are not delusions of cause and basis, but delusions because they do not recognize the abiding of the basis as self-appearance. For example, clinging to what appears in the cause without being there, such as mistaking a rope for a snake, or a conch shell appearing yellow, not recognizing the abiding of the basis, but clinging to self-appearance. In the Garland of Pearls it is said: Although many kinds of delusions are spoken of, they are spontaneously accomplished and compassionate. Thus it is said. The three fruits of ignorance are: the way the body is formed by delusion, the way the three wisdoms are deluded, and the way the fruit of delusion arises. The way the body is formed by delusion is: by the power of ignorance, the four great aggregates with obstacles are actually established, and at that place, the gates of affliction are directly established, and one acts in evil deeds. Based on this, these three wisdoms are: the essence is deluded into conceptual thought, the nature is deluded into mind, and compassion is deluded into the six aggregates, and all the deeds of affliction appear. The complete fruit of ignorance is: in self-appearance, the desire realm, the form realm, and the formless realm, the three realms all depend on it. Neither existent nor non-existent, nothing at all, without the slightest consciousness, the formless realms are all born from it. Pure Abode and other forms
