So, with a sincere heart without pretense, pray wholeheartedly, and have faith in the biographies of the great qualities written above, and even if you only do a little, strive to put them into practice. Also, most of what is said here was said during teachings, and during teacher-student debates, and also scattered words said at other times, which I have kept in mind, and as it was said, I have not altered it with self-made, pleasant-sounding words, etc., in order to bring joy to faithful people, and also for myself to remember the lama, and because the lineage lamas all made biographies, so I also felt that it was necessary to do so here, and therefore I did it. Please, faithful people, look upon it in order to generate faith in the lama's practice, and at other times, because it will accumulate the seeds of obscuration, it should be kept secret from those without faith. From then on, in order to bring joy to those who have faith in the lama's biography, the teachings called "A Garland of Flowers." The successor of the named lama, the Shakya monk Ngawang Namgyal Tenzin Gyaltsen Pal Sangpo, wrote it on the twenty-first day of the eighth month of the Tiger year, on the day of the star Mgo, in the secret chamber of the Dharma King Rinpoche of Ganden Maitreya Garden, and the scribe was the wise Jampal Lodro. May this also cause me and all limitless sentient beings to realize that the nature of mind is inherently enlightened, and may we immediately realize it through the kindness of the lama.
