The biography of the Dharma King, the Unequalled Drakpa Gyatso, called A Garland of Flowers. Whoever does not move from the realm of the primordial protector, the self-born deity Kuntu Zangpo, father and mother, and the lineage lamas such as Vajradhara, I pray for blessings. Yidam mandala deities, supreme deities, Dakinis, and Dharma protectors, ocean of assemblies, grant the two types of accomplishments, eliminate obstacles. From the depths of my faith, to guide the faith of devoted disciples, I will briefly write the biography of the glorious lama. If there are any mistakes, please forgive me. Here, my venerable lama, the lord of yoga. First, how he took birth in a supreme place, in a family of great lineage. How he had a connection to the Dharma from a young age. How he entered the door of the Dharma through that power. How he relied on wise and accomplished lamas. How he engaged in hearing, contemplating, and meditating on the sacred Dharma from them. Then, how he benefited the monastic disciples and all sentient beings in general. How he subdued obstacles and wrong views. How he obtained visions of the Yidam deity. How he received prophecies from the lamas. Finally, how he passed into the realm of purity, etc., are shown in ten points. First, as for the first point, the place is where the sacred Dharma flourishes and practices the ten virtues, the main monastery is Drong. The father, named Kunga Bumpa, is of the Drom lineage, descended from Dromtonpa Gyalwai Jungne. The owner of eighty pillars of Nyemo (尼木县) Zuk Kunga Rawa, built a Bumpa Tshar for each son born. He was invited to the main monastery to perform the consecration ceremony, so his name was Bumpa. The mother is the daughter of Sangye Rinchen, named Samdrub Bumpa, and she had three sons, of whom the venerable one was the middle one. Secondly, as for the second point, from a young age, he had faith, renunciation, and devotion to the Dharma, liked the appearance of monks, diligently recited Mani and other short texts, and especially focused on learning to write and read. Although he did not learn to read from a teacher, he himself learned to write the alphabet from his uncle and paternal uncle. Then, he took scriptures and branches and learned while working, so he was able to understand the meaning of the words. It is said that Jowo Chewa...

Because I was like a sheep, I was forced to learn to read and write. I had no opportunity to learn except in my spare time from being a servant. Because I only learned a little bit roughly, my mother also said that it was good that I was learning in my spare time, so she let me study." "I was dismissed many times from being a servant for my uncle. Because I wrote those (letters) in a crooked and distorted way, I knew some of them. Later, I sent my uncle to study writing, and I went to the tsampa, but my uncle ran away to another place." "Before I finished the tsampa I had brought, I learned to read and write from my uncle. I stayed for eight days. After that, I thought of staying with my uncle to graze the tsampa, but my mother was worried about fighting and went back. She said that the letters that could write books were those. Like the third (person) said, I wanted to be a monk at my uncle's place, (they) said that would be best. I myself thought so in my heart, but I couldn't bear to leave, and my younger brother was still young, and my uncle was staying at home, and my mother felt that she couldn't do anything, so it was delayed for two years. After that, I felt that there was no time to complete these things." "It's okay. I want to go and study Buddhism. I secretly accumulated some things like utensils. I wanted to discuss it with my uncle, so I went to Döl's estate, but not only did I not discuss it, but I cried and said that I dared to do this. I was almost beaten to death, and (my uncle) chased me for a long time. I said don't do this, and (my uncle) agreed in person. Leaving him, I went far away, (thinking) don't worry about me, I must be a monk. After that, I returned home, and my mother and uncle said this: 'What exactly do you want to do?'" "I said that if I could encounter the Dharma, I would be happy myself, and it would also benefit you, etc. I said many advantages and disadvantages, but (they) said that I was almost beaten to death, and they cried, saying that I was simply a disaster." "I'm leaving, that lama is the real Buddha. If you also want to be a nun, come tomorrow. Give up your attachment to your mother and relatives! When you come back without looking back on this life, when you arrive at the door, the steward secretary Bodhicitta's son Dänba, because (the master) kept it in his heart, looked at it slightly, and wanted to go to see him. Asking to go in like this from the outside, (they) said it was not good, mother was in danger, pitiful. In any case, this is the road to take. I said to my mother, it's not that I'm going to do bad things, but to study Buddhism, don't pity me. She said: 'Then study Buddhism well and continue to work hard.' She gave me a piece of phelta, about two servings of tea, and some clothes.
