First, leisure and endowment are difficult to obtain. First, leisure and endowment are difficult to obtain. Here, firstly, the preliminary instructions are divided into two types: common and uncommon. Here, firstly, we will explain the common preliminaries. The term "preliminary" is like plowing the field first, in order to practice the main practice, one must tame one's mind-stream with the common preliminaries. Among them, the common outer preliminaries make oneself docile, while the uncommon refuge and so on, are like planting crops until harvesting and threshing, which are uncommon. And like eating tsampa, it is the guidance of the main practice. Among them, there are also two types: ripening guidance and intention guidance. Firstly, like Bimala's bone letter, it is transmitted in fragments, divided into piecemeal transmission and gradual transmission. The first is, the master Kuma Raja (कुमारাজ, Kumārarāja, Prince of Youth). The Omniscient Dharma King (ཀུན་མཁྱེན་ཆོས་ཀྱི་རྒྱལ་པོ།) relied on him for six years and completed the guidance, and the teacher and disciples reached the end at the same time, just like the Great Omniscient One (ཀུན་མཁྱེན་ཆེན་པོ།), the original purity of the Dharma nature is exhausted, and the spontaneously accomplished awareness reaches its peak. The Great Omniscient One once made a vow: In the future, all those who follow me must rely on the master for a long time and listen to the teachings for a long time, just like making a will in the ocean of liberation. If it is not like this, but named intention guidance, seven-day guidance, monthly guidance, etc., the master pretends to guide the racehorse, and the disciples listen intermittently, just like sticking out their tongues before their heads are cooked, and stretching their feet before the bed is warm, the master has no time to tame the disciples, and the disciples have no time to rely on the master, saying the main practice, the main practice, but eager to achieve success, if the preliminary Dharma is lost, it is like cutting off the head from a high place, and eventually the body and head will be separated. Therefore, later those who claim to be practitioners are hypocritical, inconsistent in words and deeds, the self-mind-stream and the supreme Buddha Dharma go their separate ways, the body is stiff, and the eyes roll around, like this, the self-mind-stream has not improved at all. Here, in the manner of ripening guidance, the key instructions are transmitted gradually. It is divided into three types: common outer preliminaries, uncommon inner preliminaries, and the near-path phowa guidance as a part of the main practice. Firstly, what is called common, who is it common with? According to the view of the scriptures, it refers to the content that all schools practice in common.

Therefore, this is the common outer preliminary practice. According to the oral tradition, the common objects of contemplation for all three types of individuals, and so on. What is meant by "uncommon"? With whom is it uncommon? According to the scriptures, it is uncommon with the worldly paths and the lower vehicle of Hearers and Solitary Realizers. According to the oral tradition, it is uncommon with the lesser and intermediate individuals. Because the object of contemplation of the great individual is uncommon, it is called the preliminary practice within the uncommon. Transference of consciousness is for those who are deficient in their practice of the path, using transference to greet death. Firstly, there is no time to practice the main practice, or after practicing, one does not have the warmth of the three states of birth, death, and bardo, and one has not obtained a stable path. Therefore, one must rely on transference to continue the practice of the path. Therefore, the decisive transference of consciousness is a component of the main practice of the completion stage and belongs to the Six Dharmas of Naropa. Among these, first, the common outer preliminary practice has six divisions. First, the four thoughts that turn the mind or the four ways to turn away from attachment, that is, using the four ways to turn the mind away from thoughts of this life and the next, and from the self-cherishing thoughts of benefiting oneself instead of benefiting others with bodhicitta. With the two, the difficulty of finding leisure and endowments and impermanence of life, turn the mind away from thoughts of accomplishing this life. With the two, the faults of samsara and karma and its results, turn the mind away from thoughts and actions of accomplishing the next life in samsara. By implication, one must turn the mind away from thoughts and actions of accomplishing one's own desires, which is a special characteristic of the omniscient father and sons. Turning the mind away from the three thoughts and actions of accomplishing one's own desires in this life and the next, one must seek liberation, therefore, contemplate the benefits of liberation. Apart from a qualified lama and spiritual friend, no one can show the path to liberation, therefore, one needs to know the method of relying on a spiritual friend. First, the difficulty of finding leisure and endowments, as in the way of listening to instructions. The way of listening to instructions is, first, the way of listening when listening, the way of practicing when practicing, the way of meditating when meditating. Therefore, one should have a vast intention, such as the intention of bodhicitta, and vast means, etc., that is, intention and action. First, intention is the main thing, and second, the actions and conduct of body and speech are the main things. First, it is called intention, because "kun" means many, therefore, it arises a special thought from among many thoughts. Among these, non-virtuous
