The one named Shanta Rakshita had a complexion that was white with a reddish hue, possessed the characteristics of the lotus lineage, and was endowed with all talents. His head and neck were like knotted ropes, his upper body was like an inverted vessel, his lower body was triangular, his mouth and eyes were crescent-shaped, and his hair was reddish-brown. He was born with the characteristics of a wrathful Vajrakila. When he grew up, the king of that country was without a son. One day, a son was born, and while that son was resting in the shade of an edible tree in the pleasure garden, a flesh fly was eating his head. Dana Rakshita, fearing that the prince would die, threw a stone. The stone and the flesh fly together struck the head, and the prince died. Some say that the minister's son struck him with a trident and killed him. That is how it is in the emanation story, but it does not apply here. Then, the people said: You killed the prince. He said: I did not strike with malicious intent, but because there was a flesh fly eating the prince's head, I threw a stone at the flesh fly, and the stone and the flesh fly together struck the head, and he died. The people looked and saw that it was so. The king heard the judgment: the most severe crime was death, the medium was exile, and the least was that on New Year's Day, each household had to pay one hundred khals of white flour. But this time, because he killed the prince, the crime was most severe, and it was not intentional, so he should be exiled. After everyone agreed, he was exiled. So, carrying five arrows and a bow, he went to the charnel ground Sosha Ling in India. Because he had nothing else, he ate corpse food and coarse rice, and wore corpse cloth as clothing. Whatever was male, he measured and released; whatever was female, he used and measured. Thus, a flesh-eating demon named Shanta Rakshita appeared in the charnel ground. The whole city was talking about it. At that time, the king of that place, named Fond of Fighting, was angry and said: If this person is not killed, the country will be destroyed, so he must be killed. So, taking an army, the king's son Indra Raja, who was brave and steadfast, came to the charnel ground at the edge of the valley.
