The Secret Tantra of the Burning Lamp Illuminating the Realization of Panchen Vimalamitra. Vimalamitra. Volume One. ༄༅༔ The Secret Tantra of the Burning Lamp Illuminating the Realization of Panchen Vimalamitra, Volume One. Commentary on the Root Tantra of Sound Transformation. ཨེ་མ་ཧོ༔ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Romanized Sanskrit, Literal Chinese meaning) Emaho! Here, this root tantra of the Burning Lamp, which is the essence of all tantras, agamas, and instructions, is like the essence of butter extracted from an ocean of nectar-like milk. It is the king of all tantras, the key point of all agamas, the root of all instructions, and the quintessence of seventeen hundred thousand tantras. Panchen Vimalamitra, also known by other names such as Bimalamitra, whose fame spread in all ten directions. This extraordinary view of the great scholar is perfectly explained in five aspects: the nature of the tantra, the meaning of the words, the classification, the summary, and the definitive conclusion. This is the essence of the three: essence, nature, and great compassion. The state of luminous Great Perfection, is a Dharma cycle like the essence of the sun, this special secret tantra of the Burning Lamp abides, and there are three such as saying that all phenomena are mind. That is, there are three types of Great Perfection that say all phenomena are mind: 1. Based on the appearance of the mind, it is believed that all appearances are Dharmakaya; 2. Based on the illusion of the mind, it is said that illusion is all phenomena are mind, and so on. That is, there are three types of Great Perfection that say all phenomena are mind: 1. Based on the appearance of the mind, it is believed that all appearances are Dharmakaya; 2. Based on the illusion of the mind, it is believed that illusion is wisdom; 3. Based on the realization of the mind, it is the Great Perfection that says that the six realms of beings are naturally liberated. There are also three types of Great Perfection that speak of the spontaneously accomplished perfection: 1. Saying that self-nature is spontaneously accomplished and self-nature is non-existent; 2. Saying that uncertain appearances are merely coincidental appearances; 3. Saying that play is unceasing and everything done is not empty, is the Great Perfection. There are also three types of Great Perfection that say that all appearances are self-arisen wisdom: 1. Saying that others' initiations are exhausted.

And, the Dzogchen that speaks of memory ceasing suddenly like a garuda, and the Dzogchen that speaks of the wheel of the meeting of appearances and mind being perfected. These are those who view Dzogchen as the qualities of the nature and power of the mind. There are three Dzogchens that speak of delusion as self-sounding: speaking of the unchanging nature of self-born wisdom, speaking of the self-liberation of the four extremes, and speaking of samsara as having no beginning or end. There are three who speak of the manner of arising as self-liberation: those who desire the liberation of appearance and emptiness from their own ground, those who speak of samsara being thoroughly purified, and the Dzogchen that speaks of the four sounds pervading and encompassing. These mainly show the view and conduct, and view samsara and nirvana as being joined together. Again, there are three who speak of transforming the basis: speaking of considering analysis as taking the path, speaking of establishing deluded appearances as the basis, and desiring the essential points gathered to be liberated in scattered appearances. These are those who desire appearances and mind to be emptiness, and view body and speech as the complete basis. There are three who speak of the path as being straight and direct: those who desire liberation through the essential points of body and speech, those who desire non-action to be one perfection, and those who desire self-appearance to be beyond abandoning and adopting. These are those who consider the essential points of body, speech, and mind to be most important, and therefore are the tradition that desires self-awareness to be manifest. There are three who speak of the result as being primordially liberated: speaking of Dzogchen as being vast and extensive, speaking of being completely perfect and free from extremes, and speaking of one liberation liberating all. These are those who desire appearance and awareness to be non-different, and are the tradition that desires the three realms to be thoroughly purified. Thus, the desires of Dzogchen are different because they do not understand the wheel of one mind as being one. Among these, from the three classes, is the class of instructions; from the nine spaces, it is called the space of liberation in the naked seeing of reality. From the three canons, it is the directly spoken canon. If all phenomena are gathered together, they are included in the two, samsara and nirvana. The phenomena of samsara are completely pure and hold to their own characteristics. The phenomena of nirvana are the phenomena of scripture and the phenomena of the nature of realization. Scripture is the scripture of teaching and the scripture of expression. There are three scriptures of teaching: the sutras, the vinaya, and the abhidharma. The scripture of expression is spoken in connection with the respective antidotes, specifically eighty-four thousand, and in nature, it is the various collections of thoughts of the mind.
