Furthermore, a certain yogi, brahmin, and monk, generating a mind of great joy, requested those precepts that are considered secret and sacred. King Wangchuk Od Den replied that since this ultimate essence of the mantra vehicle is not the activity field of children, the great secret and the sacred secret should be kept utterly secret. Having said this, he closed the secret door and did not grant it. That brahmin, without losing faith, offered whatever possessions he had to that holy king, and dedicating them to that great secret, properly combined them. He mentally manifested and turned towards the place where that holy person resided, focusing on it, and with a one-pointed mind recited many supreme and sacred prayers. Thus, through the blessing of faith in this sacred secret, that holy king who was determined to grasp its essence, and that holy brahmin who rejoiced and admired, became equal in attaining results, without high or low. Therefore, like this, rejoicing and admiring in itself is a great lineage holder who is skilled in the method of effortlessly obtaining precious things. As good conduct has occurred in the past, become skilled in all kinds of methods. The seventh is taught from "Furthermore, secret holder" to "Learn how conduct occurs." Furthermore, the master of secret mantra holders is like this: The incomparable, inconceivable victorious guides learned and correctly saw this method, and because they understood its meaning, they became friends to the beings of the three realms, and became the master of the sacred one, the holder of secrets. And how is that? In the past, there was once a householder named Clear Giving, who, having learned the meaning of this great secret, and abiding in this meaning and becoming familiar with it, thereby correctly saw the dharma nature of his own mind, that profound secret, thereby ascertained the nature of the great secret, and thereby definitely saw the secret of all dharmas. That is, the root of all dharmas is that very secret of the mind. Because everything arises from that root, by controlling countless dharma doors, he became the king of dharma and was called the teacher Buddha.

Known as the lion of all, becoming famous in all limitless realms, after such conduct has occurred, you should also truly learn. The eighth is, furthermore, Secret Holder, from there to conduct as such. What is taught in between is: Furthermore, Secret Holder, listen to the subduing of yakshas. Whoever well comprehends just one verse of this path of words of the Great Vehicle secret, then, giving to many people, and countless Shravakas, and limitless Buddhas together with their sons, performing great assemblies of offerings and donations, is not even a hundred thousandth part, because comprehending one word of secret mantra is indeed greater merit. Why is that? Because understanding the meaning of this Great Vehicle secret becomes the supreme cause of pleasing the Buddhas. Like the Buddhas who appear as guides for beings pervading all of space, and the single essence of the Great Vehicle secret, the Buddhas of meaning, the two are not different in meaning, and their essence is not different, therefore, pleasing one Buddha is equivalent to pleasing all Buddhas is reasonable. Because the essence of body, speech, and mind is not separate, but because of the different thoughts of those to be tamed, they are tamed in different ways, thus demonstrating inconceivable actions. What is that like? In the past, there once appeared a lineage with excellent fortune and completely pure karma and lineage, a Brahmin named Auspicious and a monk named Luminous, the two of them separately generated different intentions, and mutually agreed to study this matter, competing to see who could obtain the fruit. Among them, Auspicious practiced the inferior Vehicle of the causal path, and performed great deeds of offering. Luminous, on the other hand, extensively and definitively understood the meaning of the Great Vehicle secret, and diligently performed tsog offerings. Luminous, riding the secret mantra Great Vehicle, determined the excellent lineage, and in one lifetime manifestly attained enlightenment. And Auspicious, who practiced the Vehicle of characteristics, would need countless three great kalpas to obtain the fruit of enlightenment. The difference is so great, therefore, practicing the supreme Great Vehicle secret, one can obtain the fruit in this very life, this excellent Luminous.

In accordance with the occurrence of quickly combining the fruits of behavioral conduct, learn well the meaning of the Great Secret Essence and act accordingly. Ninth, what is taught from "Furthermore, secret holder" to "Act purely in conduct" is: Furthermore, listen, master of secret mantras! Whoever constantly holds these secret mantra teachings will, like the Immovable King and others who possess immeasurable, constantly complete, and endowed great qualities, obtain the dharani with meaning. And what is that like? In the past, there was a householder named Agnihotra, together with a retinue of a hundred families, who constantly held and abided in this Great Vehicle secret. Just as the Buddha Amoghasiddhi and his retinue are, a great lineage holder who is complete with skill and power obtained the supreme fruit, and you should act correctly in accordance with such conduct. Tenth, what is taught from "Furthermore, Secret Lord" to "Certainly secret" is: Furthermore, the great Secret Lord is like this: those who diligently practice to ascertain the Vajra nature of the supreme secret body, speech, and mind, which is non-dual, and who, having truly realized it themselves, speak to others properly, will, through familiarity with that meaning, become the Dharma King who holds the Great Secret, in accordance with the words spoken and the prayers made, and will become manifest as the supreme pinnacle of accomplished qualities. And what is that like as an example? In the past, there was a great sage yogi named Kalayana who extensively praised and proclaimed the qualities of the Great Vehicle secret to a multitude of sages, and who definitively established the essential points of meaning. From this, many sages obtained the supreme position of holding the great lineage. That praiser, the sage Kalayana, became the Dharma King, the master of secrets. Therefore, you should praise and proclaim to all worthy vessels in accordance with the meaning of this Great Vehicle secret. By that method, the intention and courage of my teacher will be fulfilled.

This is an explanation of the qualities that are spoken of and their reasons. Therefore, any yogi who possesses intelligence, even in a brief moment, if they correctly ascertain the meaning of this great secret, then they can ascertain this great secret as sacred, as desired by all the Buddhas and Vidyadharas. This is the merit of meditation. The third is what is taught from "Lord of Secrets" to "Speaks the supreme secret": The great Lord of Secrets, in that case, what is the meaning of this great secret essence? Having practiced without error and determined the good lineage, and having practiced perversely and determined the wrong lineage, these are known as the basis of this precious lineage, therefore, the Lord of Secrets himself speaks and teaches in this way, therefore one should be skilled in the nature of merits and faults. The third, summarizing the manner of arising, is what is taught from "secret one" to "has been cut off": The Lord of the Secret Ones told the story of what happened before, telling how it was transmitted and how it was spread, therefore, the great Bodhisattvas who existed before, such as the Lord of Lanka, those with inferior bodies, regarding this supreme Great Vehicle, whether it has been discussed since beginningless time, or where it has been spread and the manner of transmission, all these uncertain doubts have been completely cut off, and it has been correctly ascertained. The title of the chapter is: From the Great Sutra of the Gathering of the Intentions of All Buddhas, in the previous Akanishta, the explanation of the thirty-eighth chapter, which is the complete story of teaching the manner of previous occurrences. From the commentary of the Prophecy: The previous chapter explained the differences between good and bad deeds, and this chapter teaches the results of these good and bad deeds through history. Through these means, from the nature of the inevitable arising of the Great Vehicle, the eighth also arises in the fame of skillful means, a story called telling.
