The ministers discussed and consulted doctors, female diviners, and astrologers as needed. After examining the pulse, the doctor said, "The pulse of the four humors is not present. There is a sinking pulse, which seems to be an unclean disease." Then the female diviner performed divination, and all the astrologers' calculations agreed that the king and all the local deities were disturbed by unclean defilement. However, the doctors, female diviners, and astrologers did not know what caused the defilement. The king's consort, Mongza Tritham, gave birth to an unclean son. The consort secretly entrusted the child to a maid, saying, "It is important that you hide him where no one can see him." The maid hid the child in a pit, which happened to be found by the earth deity. The earth deity and all the local deities were defiled by the unclean object and became disturbed, causing discomfort to the king and the entire country. Then, the maid was also defiled by the unclean object and became ill, with her head and limbs paralyzed. When a doctor was called to examine her, he said, "There is no disease of the four humors. You have been defiled by an unclean object. I don't know what defiled you, and there is no other way to cure your illness." At that time, the maid explained in detail how Consort Tritham had hidden the child. The story spread and reached the king's ears. The king summoned Consort Tritham and questioned her. Consort Tritham, fearing for the maid's life, did not report truthfully. The king was very angry and intended to punish Consort Tritham. Consort Tritham went to Orgyen Rinpoche for refuge. He is a yogi who realizes the absence of inherent existence. Because he knows how to transform various appearances into interdependence. Therefore, this impurity can even eliminate the defilements of the five poisons. There is an easy, concise, and meaningful method of purification. Because these substances and implements are needed, gather them all together. May the king not be troubled, but tomorrow, together with the ministers and retinue, go to the summit of Samye Hepo Ri. Having said this, the king was very pleased and gathered the substances and implements. The next day, they went to the summit of Hepo Ri. There, the great master resided, and he burned the substances brought by the king in a wide and large stove, and the ritual was spoken as follows: Alas! All sentient beings are defiled by the darkness of ignorance. The five poisons defile the five wisdom deities. The three non-virtuous doors defile the three doors of body, speech, and mind. Breaking the monastic vows defiles the dakinis of the body. Breaking the samaya defiles the Vajra Master. Smallness of the tsok offering and torma defiles the mothers and dakinis. Impurity of the first offering and leftovers defiles the Dharma protectors and guardians. Accumulating miserliness defiles the oath-bound protectors. Disturbance of samadhi defiles the worldly mothers. Disturbance of affection defiles brothers and sisters. Disturbance of hatred defiles the peaceful deities. Disturbance of pride defiles the increasing deities. Disturbance of desire defiles the magnetizing deities. Disturbance of jealousy defiles the wrathful deities. Disturbance of ignorance defiles the clarifying deities. Red and white offerings, hearths, local deities, and powerful spirits are defiled. Disturbance of fighting and hostility defiles the foreign deities and powerful spirits. Impure hearths defile the household deities and powerful spirits. Impure odors defile the protector deities. In particular, impure women's menstrual blood defiles the gods, nagas, and powerful spirits of the upper, lower, and intermediate realms. The cave deity, door wealth, household deity, and householder are defiled. Body, speech, and mind, and the war god and personal god are defiled. Alas! The body is defiled, the body's radiance diminishes, and the body's strength is lost. The head, neck, and chest ache, and the eyes are unclear. Speech is defiled, the voice is hoarse, one stutters, and speech is uncomfortable. There is much saliva and mucus, the nostrils are ulcerated, and the area under the tongue swells. The mind is defiled, the mind is uneasy and irritable. Forgetfulness, drowsiness, dullness, and restlessness at night. The head is defiled, there is dizziness, blurred vision, and deafness. The limbs are defiled, causing paralysis, numbness, and stiffness.
