Divide the day into four sessions: dawn, morning, noon, and night, and practice accordingly. The dawn session is from the appearance of dawn until sunrise. The morning session is from the full sunrise until before noon. The afternoon session is from after noon until the sun is about to set. The night session is from sunset until the end of the first part of the night. It is best to offer torma at the end of each session, but if that is not possible, offer it at the end of the last session. Regarding the length of the sessions, start with short sessions and gradually increase the length. When you reach the peak of the practice, the sessions are the longest. Then gradually shorten them again. The nature of the sessions is to make offerings in between eating, drinking, walking, sleeping, and talking. To prevent interruptions, it is also important to recite mantras with the pride of a deity in between sessions, although this is important, it is not counted in the number of recitations. Have strong faith and trust in the lama and the instructions without any doubt. In all situations, meditate that the lama, the deity, and your own mind are inseparable. This is the king of removing obstacles and clearing away unfavorable conditions. It is said that blowing on a fire, pointing a sword inward, and especially eating garlic, onions, radishes, and tongue meat will weaken the power of speech, so they should be avoided. Furthermore, it is said that during the retreat, one should not give mantra water or amulets to others. In the session before breaking the retreat, after offering the tsokhor, perform the Vajra dance: The Vajra dance in which Vajrakilaya and his retinue play, strikes the hearts of the demons fiercely. The Vajra dance in which wrathful deities and wrathful goddesses play, strikes the hearts of enemies and obstacles fiercely. By performing the Vajra dance of the wrathful deities, the wrathful goddesses will follow. By performing the peaceful Vajra dance in the east, may diseases, evil spirits, and obstacles be pacified. By performing the increasing Vajra dance in the south, may life and merit increase. By performing the magnetizing Vajra dance in the west, may gods, spirits, and humans be brought under control. By performing the subjugating Vajra dance in the north, may enemies, obstacles, and demons be pacified. After this, arrange the attained substances as they have been obtained, dispel obstacles, and bless them. Light radiates from the heart of the deity in front, the blessings of the three roots, the essence and taste of the four elements, the life and merit of gods and humans, all the qualities of samsara and nirvana, nectar and light

Absorbed into the food. At the end of the root mantra, add "Kāya Vākka Citta Siddhi Ala La Hoḥ" (Tibetan, Devanagari, Roman transliteration, literal Chinese meaning), recite one hundred and eight times, etc., and speak the words to obtain the accomplishment of the activity. Visualize receiving the four empowerments of meditative stabilization from the Torma deity. Recite "Kāya Siddhi Oṃ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Roman transliteration, literal Chinese meaning: Body accomplishment Om), Vākka Siddhi Āḥ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Roman transliteration, literal Chinese meaning: Speech accomplishment Ah), Citta Siddhi Hrīḥ (Tibetan, Devanagari, Roman transliteration, literal Chinese meaning: Mind accomplishment Hrih)," and enjoy the substances of accomplishment. Arrange a new offering torma for the Great Kings and bless it. To repay the interrupted activities, offer delightful offerings and tormas to the Four Great Kings and their retinues. As before, offer with mantras. Offer the torma and recite the Hundred Syllable Mantra. Confess and ask for forgiveness, and recite: May the Four Great Kings and their retinues return to their respective places. Offer thanks and make amends. Summarize, and extensively perform aspirations and auspicious wishes, etc., dissolve the inner boundaries, and then gradually dissolve the outer boundaries. The supplementary fire offering must be performed before engaging in other activities within the retreat or elsewhere. For these stages of visualization and practice, carefully examine the meaning of the scriptures and oral instructions. Do not be fond of making analogies with your own ideas, but act according to the nectar of the oral transmission of my guru, the venerable uncle Vajradhara Ngawang Chöpel, etc. It would be good if the Dharma categories of the old and new schools are not mixed. May those with vast wisdom eyes consider this. For the profound path of vision and appearance, the practice of the union of maturation and liberation of Vajrayogini, like a river, continuously engage in four sessions of practice. Strive diligently, may you quickly obtain the supreme common accomplishments. Although these methods have been written down according to the oral instructions of the holy ones, due to my wisdom being dominated by contradiction, confusion, and ignorance, if there are any faults, in front of the guru and the assembly of deities, I confess from the depths of my heart, please forgive me. May all the accumulations of pure virtuous deeds be offered as Samantabhadra's clouds of offering that please the Three Roots. By offering them, may all wishes be immediately fulfilled, and may the ocean of auspiciousness pervade the three realms. For the yogis who practice the profound secret path, may the oath-bound protectors, the powerful ones, in general and in particular, the Five Ging, the planetary demons, and their retinues, always provide assistance without negligence. Thus, the supreme deity, the great glorious Vajrakilaya.

The history of this matter is that when the Dalai Lama turned forty, on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month of the Fire Monkey year, during a sealing ceremony held in front of the self-minister Phagpa at the top of the Potala Palace, on the twenty-seventh of that month, in a vision of pure wisdom, Pandit Vimalamitra personally appeared and said: Son, distinguish between mind and awareness. The supreme essence is the secret path. In the profound practice of the Eight Commands (Kagye), son, from the depths of your heart, generate faith. Having said this, he showed the mandala of the Great Glorious Vajrakilaya and bestowed the complete four empowerments. The Dalai Lama himself practiced, completely overcoming the battlefield of external and internal obstacles and demonic forces, and easily attained accomplishments. For the benefit of future disciples, he propagated the lineage of empowerments and so forth, and also recorded the order of rituals such as activity manuals and mandala rituals in writing. Thereafter, passing through successive lineage masters, up to my kind root guru Ngawang Chöpel, this extremely profound near lineage of the Kagye, known as the 'Words of the Vidyadharas,' is among those whose blessings and the power of accomplishments manifest in the world, the deity Vajrakilaya's practice manual, 'The Joyful Dance of the Three Roots.' This is the throne holder of Ganden Chöpel Ling, praised by Jamyang Gongma Lhai Kyong Gyalpo with a golden decree, the fully accomplished in Sutra and Tantra, virtuous friend Rabjampa, at the urging of the one who cherishes the secret great treasury. From the great monastery of Tenrik Ling, the source of the Ocean of Dakinis, the complete empowerment was bestowed. In order to please each of the disciples, we display this profound lineage of empowerment. Many masters of Sutra and Tantra teachings, lamas, and virtuous friends earnestly requested that a very clear practice manual was needed. Therefore, Konchok Chöden, the former throne holder of Stagchen Lhamo, composed this at the age of seventy-three. May this also cause the Victorious teachings and their holders to completely triumph over the battlefield of the dark side, and may all beings constantly enjoy the glory of happiness!
