Even the supreme being, Lord Atisha, who had attained realization, would plant a myrobalan fruit every day. It seems unlikely that beings like us in this degenerate age would have a view or practice superior to that of Lord Atisha. Therefore, even if we do not know many profound views or meticulous practices, if we spend our lives with such actions and good intentions, we will not feel that we have wasted our precious human life. I express my gratitude for making this Dharma flourish and spread through everyone's own practice and propagation, whether high or low. Said: In these times when the degeneration of the degenerate age is afflicting, Even the teachers who are like the Buddha have become inverted. Who would trust the words of a beggar like me, Who does not possess wealth or dominion over retinues? Those who possess good lineage, form, learning, youth, and wealth, The wise, virtuous, teachers, meditators, elders, and youths, Are distracted by the work of building sandcastles of the eight worldly concerns, It seems they have no connection with this excellent path. From beginningless misdeeds, in the forest of existence, They are born in delusion and die in delusion. Children follow the mirage-like rainbows, Deceived by ignorance, it is difficult to enter this excellent path. The sutras of the Victorious One clearly show the city of existence, The nature of misdeeds, the unfailing results of karma. Believing in truth, acting according to the teachings of the Teacher, For those fortunate ones, this path is the jewel of the heart. All the perfections and virtues of samsara and nirvana, Arise from accumulating merit and purifying obscurations. Knowing that the Three Jewels, which never deceive, are refuge, For those fortunate ones, this path is the apple of the eye. In the city of samsara, a manifestation of various karmas, Thoroughly wearied by this endless suffering, Desiring to enter the excellent mansion of stainless liberation, This excellent path is a precious ladder. Temporarily obtaining the perfections and wealth of samsara, And ultimately touching the wisdom of non-abiding, Fulfilling all desires for the benefit of oneself and others, This excellent path is a wish-fulfilling jewel. Even if one cannot offer vast offerings and service, Simply joining one's palms together with joy, Or circumambulating with a pure intention once, Being born in the city of the gods is meaningful. Although outwardly appearing as a human form in the heavens, When seeing the supreme object of veneration, the essence of relics, One goes with a sidelong glance, like an animal.

Those beings' hearts are filled with sorrow. Not adorned by the words of the wise, Nor tainted by the speech of fools, The precious, excellent teachings of the all-knowing Victorious One. Why doubt this excellent path? Fortunate beings who come later, Generate faith, trust, and certainty, Practice this path as it is, The sun of blessings will surely rise in your heart. Even I, a fool who sees only a glimpse, Have self-arisen certainty in this way, Then, all the wise masters who know everything as it is, Why not scatter flowers of praise on this path? From this day forward, in all lifetimes, May I encounter the teachings of the all-knowing Victorious One, And never be separated from this excellent path, May I go to the city of the heart of enlightenment. Until that is attained, due to various karmic influences, In the illusory cycle of birth and death, Free from thoughts and actions that harm others, May I never forget the mind of enlightenment. The source of all happiness and well-being for beings, The precious, stainless teachings of the Victorious One, May it never decline, may it be clear in all times and places, May those who uphold it have long lives. May all places have harmonious and happy sangha gatherings, May the teachings of study and practice flourish in all communities, May the patrons of the teachings increase in wealth, May the sun of the precious teachings of the Victorious One shine brightly. By that power, may the decline of the degenerate age, Hailstorms, frost, rust, drought, war, disease, famine, etc., All unwanted harms be completely pacified, May it become beautiful with the splendor of perfect prosperity. Those beings, human and non-human, Who always have the mind to harm others, From now on, knowing all beings as beginningless parents, May they have minds of love and compassion. May the places of aspiration be fulfilled as they are, May all favorable conditions be complete, pervading space, The sole refuge of all beings, May it be accomplished by the truth of the Three Jewels!
