It urges the wind to flow and causes the fragrance to descend. Because it performs fierce actions, it is called the fierce mother channel, which connects from the center of the heart to the tongue, causing the wind to flow and the taste to descend. These senses also arise from the wind flowing within those channels, and from the bindu that arises together with it. Because it subdues demons, it is called the demon-free channel, with one end piercing the center of the uvula from the center of the heart, causing the white element to descend upwards; the other end pervades the entire upper and lower body, causing tactile sensations to descend through one side's function. Here, when explaining the five hidden channels, it is said that the five hidden channels in the center of the heart of the body truly exist. The place where the great life wind flows is the upper end of the Avadhuti channel. Other than that, the places where the other four root winds flow are: the place of the downward-clearing wind is the lower end of the Avadhuti channel; the place of the upward-moving wind is the elephant's tongue; the place of the pervasive wind is the yellow and thin channel; and the place of the fire-equalizing wind is the nasal channels. Here, although there are many ways to identify and explain the hidden channels, in the presence of the omniscient Seventh (Kelsang Gyatso, 1708-1767), according to the words of the Thus-Gone One, the five channels through which the five root winds flow are the only five hidden channels. The meaning of "hidden" is that they are hidden in both bliss and joy, but are clearly proclaimed in the Kalachakra, and are said to be hidden through the two doors of hidden action. Although the Hevajra Tantra says that there are thirty-seven main channels, it does not clearly explain the identification of these five root wind-flowing channel petals, so the Hevajra Tantra also speaks in a hidden way, because many commentaries on the Hevajra Tantra mention the five hidden channels. Here, from the Three-Circle Channel to the place where the root wind flows, the statement that all ten channel petals are combined into the five hidden channels is a division made in an unclear way, and the differences mentioned below have deep meaning. As such, it is in accordance with the Sakya school's commentary on the praise of selflessness, and the views of Gyalwa Yang Gonpa and others. Dagpo Rampa said that establishing the support of the limbs as hidden channels is done from the perspective of qualities; establishing the support of the five root winds as hidden channels is done from the perspective of the five elements.
