Meditation and Recitation Striving to perform fire offerings, offerings, and sacrifices. If that doesn't succeed, then relying on special rituals such as throwing three times, and reciting the Vajrasattva subjugation ritual, and other fierce practices, this is a great practice. Without relying on the many trivialities of claiming to be deity visualization and mantra recitation, but accomplishing one fundamental yidam, one will achieve activities and siddhis without obstruction. Therefore, the Indians and the great Vajra Holders of Tibet in the past all did this. Nowadays, those who do so have almost disappeared. For the practice of various activities of a Vajra Acharya such as empowerment, consecration, and fire offerings, it is not sufficient to merely complete the number of recitations. The Compendium of Essence says: "The excellent Acharya of the Mandala, first diligently engages in recitation, then examines that Mandala with great tranquility. If the deity is not pleased, one becomes a condemned person." Also, the Vajra Garland of Mandala Rituals says: "Knowing the path of omniscience, first accumulate merit through recitation, and completely pacify obstacles. Without recitation, there is no accomplishment." Following these teachings, there are many who only practice the number of recitations. Moreover, the methods of practice seem to differ among the various schools. The early Kagyu practitioners, for fundamental yidams such as Hevajra and his consort, would either practice the generation stage as described in the scriptures, or mainly emphasize the completion stage, thereby gaining power over wisdom, and upon obtaining signs of accomplishment, they would become the teachers and compilers of all the tantras. The later Kagyu practitioners would inevitably complete the number of recitations that were appropriate for serving as the Acharya of whichever mandala. The Sakya school uses Hevajra, and the Jonang school uses the recitation of Kalachakra, Chakrasamvara, and Vajrabhairava to meet the standard. They believe that all the deities of supreme accomplishment are of the same essence, therefore it is permissible to receive empowerments and make offerings to all of them. The Buton school considers that in Anuttarayoga, Heruka like Guhyasamaja is the fundamental yidam, in Yoga Tantra, Vajradhatu, in Carya Tantra, Vairochana Abhisambodhi, and in Kriya Tantra, the mandalas of the three family lords are the main ones.

It is said that the recitation of each deity is definitely necessary. The Gelugpa school believes that it is not permissible to have an empowerment without having completed the recitation. So, among these, what should be practiced? Mainly, if one has attained wisdom, one does not need to rely on the number of recitations, but nowadays it is rare to attain wisdom in that way, so it is good to do recitations for the sake of the activities of each mandala. However, it is impossible to complete qualified recitations for all the mandalas of the required empowerments. Therefore, it is customary to first complete the time and number of signs of the recitation of one's root deity, including the supplementary recitation and fire offering, and then do small recitations for the others. Thus, when the Vajra Master who has completed the basic recitation is about to give the empowerment, he should do seven days or so in order to request the deity to grant a special recitation. The Upper Commentary on Yoga says: When drawing the mandala, for seven days, the Vajra should practice great yoga with the union of Vajrasattva, meditate on the three samadhis, and then draw the mandala. The Taming Black Ocean also says the same thing. Abhaya and his followers also believe that it is permissible to recite hundreds of thousands of mantras of other deities during the so-called supplementary recitation, but nowadays very few people do this much. Secondly, there are five points to briefly describe the general aspect of the generation stage: where to meditate, the person who meditates, the time of meditation, the favorable conditions for meditation, and the nature of what is to be meditated upon. The first is to meditate in a place that is conducive to meditation, free from harm from humans and non-humans, in blessed places, or in one's own home. If subtle harm does not cause damage, then one should meditate in places such as cemeteries. The second is that one has received the empowerment well, the continuum is matured, one has the vows to be protected, the precepts to be practiced, the branch ascetic practices, and one strives to make amends for violations. The third is that it is important for beginners to hold the mind at night, and in general, practice and recitation are done in three or six sessions, mainly doing four sessions of yoga, and after gaining some stability, one should continuously with reverence
