To accomplish the nature of awareness is the very essence of all completion stages. It is necessary to receive the unadulterated instructions, free from the flaws of conceptualization, as direct transmissions from the mouths of authentic lamas who possess an unbroken lineage of oral instructions and blessings. These instructions must be assimilated into one's being, and one must gain certainty through the experience of being nurtured in the presence of a lama. Merely acquiring knowledge from texts and various intellectual analyses is like a painted butter lamp, incapable of accomplishing anything. Therefore, I will not elaborate here; seek it from the mouth of a holy being. A yogi who is single-pointedly focused on the meditation of the completion stage does not deliberately engage in the artificial activities of the contrived generation stage. As it is said in the Vajra Dakini Tantra: "For the sake of realizing genuine conduct, the meditation that is contrived, and the recitation that is contrived, once genuine conduct is realized, one should not engage in what is contrived. For example, having boarded a raft, one goes to the other shore of the water. Having reached the other shore, one abandons it. Likewise, contrived actions are the same." And so forth. Therefore, "endeavoring in the rituals of mandalas and the like is an external path that is separate from liberation, and it only causes beings to experience afflictions." Thus it is taught. Therefore, a yogi of the completion stage of the Great Bliss method understands that the vajra body, speech, and mind alone are the nature of the mandala, the deity of the mandala, and the mantra. Therefore, all fire offerings and recitations are accomplished within that. A yogi of unborn wisdom understands that all deities and mantras are the nature of the unborn mind. Therefore, all fire offerings and recitations are accomplished within that nature, and one does not deliberately adopt contrived actions. Second, to accomplish the inseparability of equipoise and subsequent attainment: "Without fear and without limit, with awareness and a banner, do not indulge in guarding, and turn away from attachment, severing the clinging at its root. The four letters of self-arisen wisdom (Tibetan: རང་བྱུང་ཡེ་ཤེས་ཡི་གེ་བཞི།,Sanskrit Devanagari: स्वयंभूज्ञानचतुराक्षर,Sanskrit Romanization: Svayambhu jnana caturaksara,Literal Chinese meaning: Self-arisen wisdom four letters), arise in the expanse and play in the expanse. The object to be grasped and the mind that grasps, are not established in the true meaning." Thus it is said. The meaning of this is in the first oral instruction: Such a yogi does not allow the three doors of body, speech, and mind to remain ordinary for even a moment, but urges them on with the three key points. One should not allow the five sense faculties to be ordinary, but should remain in a state of non-conceptuality. Without fear and without limit, empower the awareness that possesses a banner. Place, friends, and food, etc.
