The Oral Instructions of Je Gampopa, the Secret Path, the Quintessence of Lama Practice The Oral Instructions of Je Gampopa, the Secret Path, the Quintessence of Lama Practice The Oral Instructions of Je Gampopa, the Secret Path, the Quintessence of Lama Practice reside herein. Homage to the Noble Lamas! In degenerate times, when sentient beings have weak merit, And the Buddha's teachings are declining, There is no time to practice the sacred Dharma, and death comes suddenly. Due to the power of immediate circumstances, obstacles, and afflictions, There is a self-arisen Dakini image for seeing liberation. For those with dormant intelligence and distraction, There is a lineage of extraordinary sacred substances for experiencing liberation. For fortunate ones, there is a secret path to forcibly attain Buddhahood, There is the Upadesha of the Dakinis for obtaining liberation. The ultimate key point of the secret of secrets is, There is the practice method of the Lama for remembering liberation. For those who share the same lineage with me, the prophecy is, There is a small text for hearing liberation scattered on the ground. This famous sealed prayer of the world, I entrust to you, the keeper, protect it well. May it meet with a fortunate one someday! First, take refuge and generate Bodhicitta, Offer a Mandala and make supplications. Then, dissolve the Lama into yourself, Settle the wandering mind and stabilize it. Without meditating, without distraction, maintain the natural state. Then, let awareness arise nakedly. Destroy afflictions, habitual tendencies, and cognitive obscurations. Great bliss and luminous mind arise simultaneously. Introduce and recognize the inseparability of outer and inner. Show the absence of meditation, effort, and extremes. This extraordinary secret path of union, All the Buddhas of the vast three times, Completely accomplish everything through this alone. Inseparably practice the deity and the Lama. Recite the innermost essence of the heart. Conduct, abandonment, transformation, and knowledge are the three. The six instructions of the Bardo. Practice diligently without distraction in one lifetime. Signs and qualities will arise spontaneously. This supreme path of close meditation and secrecy, May all beings be liberated in their natural state! First, when practicing taking refuge and generating Bodhicitta, The precious human body is difficult to obtain again and again, Now you must accomplish the ultimate meaning. Furthermore, all sentient beings do not transcend death, the end of birth. It is uncertain when one will die, At the time of death, only the sacred Dharma is beneficial, nothing else. Wandering in the three realms, roaming in the six realms, Experiencing the crucial instructions at the time of death, and the fear of illusory appearances in the Bardo, Separated from joyful companions, Self

It will be like a single feather being blown by the wind, and unbearable suffering will surely come. Therefore, now that you have freedom, you must strive for the sacred Dharma and be able to contemplate the impermanence of death. If you have faith in this, you will not be attached to this life, and you will only strive for the Dharma. If you believe in the faults of samsara, you will not be bound to existence. If you believe in the infallibility of karma, you will strive to attain liberation. If you believe in loving-kindness and compassion, you will not go astray or become indifferent. If you do not understand this, even if a faint sense of awareness arises, it will not help if you are bound by things like land, relatives, and possessions. Therefore, do not be attached to this life, and let all phenomena of appearance and sound be like dreams and illusions. Entrust your mind to the Lama and the Three Jewels, and let your body assume the seven postures of Vairochana. Visualize yourself instantly as a clear deity, and above your crown, the lineage lamas are seated in tiers like a staircase. All directions, visible places, and the space in between are filled with Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, Yidams, Dakinis, Dharma Protectors, and Guardians, like a dense rainbow cloud, or like a wish-fulfilling tree with abundant leaves and fruits. With loving eyes, look down, and all sentient beings, fathers and mothers, encompassed by the six realms and the three realms of existence, are also arranged in tiers. Think of leading them to take refuge. With your mouth, recite "Buddha, Dharma, Sangha," and after "As many as there are," recite: I take refuge in the Lama! I take refuge in the Buddha! I take refuge in the Dharma! I take refuge in the Sangha! I take refuge in the Kagyu lamas who reside in the infinite realms of the ten directions! I take refuge in the Buddhas, the Bhagavat! I take refuge in the sacred Dharma! I take refuge in the noble Sangha! I take refuge in the deities of the Mandala of Yidam! I take refuge in the assembly of heroes, dakinis, dharma protectors, and guardians! I and all appearances are of the nature of the Dharmadhatu. In order to place all sentient beings who have not realized this on the ground of Buddhahood, I will strive to the best of my ability to engage in white, virtuous deeds with my body, speech, and mind. Through the power of this Bodhicitta,
