Just awareness, momentarily arising and ceasing. That is also the differentiation of the eight consciousnesses. If you cut off the foundation of each one, the root will be destroyed. What is called "alaya" is nothing more than a name. For example, there is no water in a mirage, Yet thirsty deer mistake it for water and chase after it. To grasp onto this extremely false "mind" as "self," Accumulating bad karma is a great mistake. Therefore, the Victorious One, in the Sutra Pitaka, Clearly stated, "There is no mind on the mind." If there is no mind, then what is its nature? Why is it said to be luminosity? What is called "mind" is the eight consciousnesses, Those are the nature of delusion, conceptual thoughts. The meaning of "the nature of mind is luminosity" is, The non-conceptual, non-deluded, self-aware wisdom. That is not obtained through newly cultivated meditation, Nor is it bestowed by the compassion of the Victorious Ones, But rather the beginningless lineage, the inherent nature of the lineage, Through one's own power of accumulating merit, purifying obscurations, and meditation, As well as the blessing and introduction of a qualified lama, One sees what one already possesses within oneself. Therefore, that is the co-emergent (lhan cig skyes) that cannot be expressed by others, Nor is it found anywhere, One must rely on the skillful means and timing of the glorious lama, It is said that it is known through one's own merit. Thus, the object to be grasped and the mind that grasps, The nature of being free from both is co-emergent. Like the sky, it is pure, boundless, and without partiality. In that state of freedom from elaboration, the union of shamatha and vipashyana, If one can remain in equipoise for even a moment, It is said that it destroys the darkness accumulated over eons. Such a freedom from elaboration, the Great Seal (phyag rgya chen po), Is the essence of the view of both Sutra and Tantra. The master Nagarjuna and others said that there is no view higher than Madhyamaka, And the Commentary on the Middle Way (Tshad ma rnam 'grel) says That they have the same meaning, meaning they have the same view. Therefore, in the four hundred empowerments of Anuttarayoga, While receiving them oneself and bestowing them on others, What to speak of practicing the meaning of the fourth empowerment, the Great Seal, Just hearing the name and covering one's ears, What else could it be other than the activity of the Lord of the Desire Realm? Thus, when meditating on the yoga of union (zung 'jug), If one becomes attached to bliss, clarity, and non-conceptuality, One will stray into the desire realm, form realm, and formless realm, Therefore, do not be attached, do not obstruct, let it arise naturally. Furthermore, being content with mere understanding, And

Abandoning self-grasping and focusing on emptiness, When conceptual thoughts slightly cease, Viewing it as terrifying as a precipice, And regarding whatever conceptual thoughts arise as faults, etc., Renouncing all fabricated philosophical tenets, Sustain the natural state without artifice, Without distraction, without meditation, resting freely, etc., With the accomplished instructions adorned with experience, When diligently practicing meditation according to the method, Wisdom arises from the heart, and imputations are severed. Unwillingly, signs of the path and qualities increase. Like mercury spilled on the ground, Without mixing with the dust of the eight worldly concerns, Turning away attachment from all the pleasures and wealth of samsara as if they were poison. Understanding the key point of the union of emptiness and dependent arising, If the union of skillful means and wisdom spontaneously accomplishes both aims, Then it is said that virtuous practice has reached the essential point. Thus, the three preliminaries are the accumulation of merit, The main practice is the accumulation of wisdom, and the result of the two accumulations is The attainment of the two kayas or the three kayas. Furthermore, the two luminosities of the ground and the path, When they merge like mother and child meeting, It is called complete and perfect enlightenment, and at that time, The essence of emptiness is the Dharmakaya, The nature of clarity is the Sambhogakaya, The unobstructed manifestation of potential is the vast array of Nirmanakayas, The perfection of all is the Mahasukha Kaya, The nature of the four kayas is the primordial state, Knowing one's own nature is the supreme result, Therefore, it is said that the absence of hope and fear is the result. Fifthly, the extensive dedication in the subsequent stage: In the mandala of the self-aware, blissful Sugata essence, Represented by the merit accumulated from the two accumulations, All the virtues of the three times, as many as there are, Combining the agent, action, and object of dedication, With the view of emptiness, the three spheres non-objectified, May all beings, self and others, held within this state, Quickly be liberated from the prison of samsara, And for the sake of attaining the state of the co-emergent union, the Great Seal of wisdom, Dedicate with one-pointedness. Moreover, no matter how vast the merit one accumulates, If it is not grasped by the view of the three spheres completely purified, The Victorious Ones, in the sutras such as the Prajnaparamita, speak of it as being like a blind person, And like eating food mixed with poison, Therefore, it does not become the cause of faultless liberation, Thus, with mindfulness, at all times, the generation and completion stage yoga
