Furthermore, great compassion is the cause or element for entering (Buddhahood), because great compassion is completely contained and exists within it. Therefore, using the examples of a vast container, a jewel, and water, these three similarities indicate that the Dharmadhatu is the same as the great ocean. The second point is: In the stainless place, there is direct perception, and the stainless wisdom itself, because there is no distinction, it has the same nature as the appearance, warmth, and color of a lamp. As it is said, in the naturally pure place, the Tathagatagarbha, the first five direct perceptions destroy the darkness of the unfavorable side, the stainless wisdom eliminates obscurations, and the stainless qualities of abandonment and realization are illuminated with light, possessing special similarities, as well as general similarities, just as the three characteristics of a lamp are inseparable, these seven non-learning qualities exist inseparable from the element. For example, the appearance, warmth, and color of a lamp, etc., exist inseparable from them and have the same nature. Therefore, the seven non-learning qualities are the fruit of the element, the possession of the fruit. Fourth, regarding the meaning of entering, there are two: briefly explaining the reason, and explaining it in detail. The first point is: From the entry of distinguishing the Thusness of ordinary beings, noble ones, and perfect Buddhas, because of directly seeing that nature, the Tathagatagarbha is taught to sentient beings. As it is said, starting from the entry of distinguishing the Thusness of ordinary beings, the Thusness of noble ones, and the Thusness of perfectly enlightened Buddhas, the all-knowing one who directly sees that reality teaches the Victorious One, the Tathagatagarbha, which is the naturally pure Dharmadhatu, very clearly to sentient beings who are suitable to be tamed and possess good fortune. The second point is: Ordinary beings are inverted, those who see the truth are the opposite, the Tathagata is as it is, not inverted and without elaboration. As it is said, there are three differences in the way wisdom enters: childish ordinary beings cling to permanence, therefore their perception, mind, and view are inverted; the noble ones who see the four truths are the opposite of this inversion, that is, they abandon the manifest clinging to permanence.

Enters in the manner of… The Tathagata, having abandoned the two obscurations, enters into the reality of things as they are, without reversal, and without elaboration. Thus, by distinguishing the three types of support-persons, the dependent Dharmadhatu, the Tathagatagarbha, also transforms into three aspects. From here on, with four types of meanings, one should also understand that the meaning of entering is explained in other ways. Fifth, regarding the meaning of the stages, there are two: the way of naming in three stages, and the way of summarizing six meanings with three names. First: "Impure, impure-pure, and completely pure, respectively, are called sentient beings, Bodhisattvas, and Tathagatas." It is said. The ultimate realm, the Tathagata

Realm. Thus it pervades all. It is said. For example, just as the sky, which is of the nature of being without conceptualization and without obstruction, pervades and encompasses all forms without distinction, so too, the nature of mind, the luminosity, the Dharma Realm, which is without defilement from the very beginning, similarly pervades and encompasses all states of individuals without distinction. The second is: That is the general characteristic, faults and, ultimate qualities are all-pervasive. The form of the inferior and, intermediate, superior, like the sky. It is said. Because the Dharma Realm, which is naturally completely pure, is the general characteristic or Dharma-nature of all Dharmas. It equally follows and pervades all states of ordinary beings with faults, Bodhisattvas with qualities, and Tathagatas with ultimate qualities. For example, just as the sky follows and pervades all forms of inferior earthen vessels, intermediate copper vessels, and superior gold vessels. Seventh, the meaning of immutability has two aspects: a brief explanation of the essence, and a detailed explanation of immutability in the three states. The first is: Because faults are endowed with suddenness, and qualities are endowed with self-nature. As before, so also later, the Dharma-nature is immutable. It is said. Although the Dharma Realm has three states, there is no fault of not being immutable. Because in the impure state, all faults are endowed with the suddenness of being able to be abandoned, and are not truly established. In the pure state, the nature of the qualities is spontaneously present, and is not newly born. As in the previous impure state, so also in the later completely pure state, it remains the same and never changes, which is the Dharma-nature or self-nature of this Dharma Realm. The second has three aspects: immutability in the impure state, in the impure and pure state, and in the completely pure state. The first has four aspects: the essence is not stained by defilements, the Dharma-possessor has the appearance of arising and ceasing, the Dharma-nature is not harmed by fear, and the explanation of dependent origination is extensive. The first is: Like the sky.
