Spoken by the departed. Et cetera. The meaning of the subsequent examination will be extensively explained elsewhere. This king of tantras, equal to the Complete Buddha and his deeds, following the teachings of Rinchen Zangpo (Ratnabhadra), according to the wishes of the Sakya school, relying on the words of the holy ones, is explained for the benefit of myself and others who share the same fortune. One cannot arbitrarily interpret the meaning of the tantras with childish intellect, nor does one intend to deceive sentient beings with unprecedented words, but rather follows the order of the parts of the infallible guru's teachings, arranges them well, and thinks that there will be no mistakes. May this collection of virtues, compiled like the white light of the ūrṇā hair, pacify all the evil destinies gathered by cause and effect, obtain the excellent body of the Mahayana, and with immeasurable emanations, fill all the joyful gardens of the Buddhafields. This commentary on the "King of Examinations that Completely Purifies All Evil Destinies," called "Benefiting Others, All-Encompassing," is by Jetsun Kunga Zangpo (Ānandabhadra), who is the crown jewel of all those who follow the Sugata, and by the incomparable Könchok Gyaltsen Pal Zangpo (Ratnadwajashri), who is unrivaled in teaching the profound essential points of definitive meaning without distortion, and by others, relying on taking the dust of the feet of many masters on the crown of the head, and with a mind slightly inclined towards the meaning of the Tripitaka and the tantras, the Shakya monk Sönam Senge (Puṇyasiṃha), urged by the words of the great scholar and accomplished master, the direct disciple of Yak, Khenchen Lodrö Pal Zangpo (Matibhadraśrī), and at the request of many of his own disciples, was composed in the Iron Ox year (1469) on the waxing face of the winter month at the glorious Evam Chöden Monastery, the scribe being the Dokham resident Özer Zangpo (Raśmibhadra), and the Latö resident Zhönnu Zangpo (Kumārabhadra). By this virtue, may the great secret treasury of all the Buddhas of the three times, the unsurpassed supreme doctrine, flourish and burn forever. Good! Good! Good! The Commentary on the Examination of the Perfectly Complete Buddha, King of Glory, Benefiting Others, All-Encompassing.
