Here, it refutes the tenets of the Lokayata and Brahmanas, and proves that the two are opposite yet complementary in meaning. It also explains how a valid cognition that possesses that characteristic cuts off superimpositions, the various divisions of what is to be expressed in relation to the meaning of numerical certainty, the refutation of two kinds of wrong conceptions regarding the subject, the valid cognition that ascertains the characteristic in relation to the subject for the meaning of self-awareness and other-awareness, and how it commonly performs refutation and establishment. The ninth chapter explains the correct perception, the seeming perception, and the valid cognition and its result, as stated in the chapter on perception in the Sutra and the commentary on valid cognition, and also incidentally explains the valid cognition and its result of inference. Here, it seems that the general characteristic of perception is first explained, and then the divisions are explained separately, which seems to be in accordance with the order of the Compendium on Valid Cognition, which will be explained below. In the section on yogic perception, it seems that the reasoning for establishing a valid person, which is stated in the chapter on the establishment of valid cognition, is applied to the establishment of yogic perception, which is a wonderful explanation. The tenth chapter explains the correct reason and the seeming reason as stated in the Sutra, the Compendium on Valid Cognition, the Drop of Reasoning, and the Drop of Logic, and the divisions of what is to be established as stated in the chapter on the Benefit of Others and the Gate of Reasoning. The eleventh chapter explains the various divisions of persons in the context of debate as stated in the Treatise on Debate, the twenty-two refutations, the fourteen lapses stated in the Sutra, the ten lapses stated in the Examination of Reasoning, and the various divisions of establishment and refutation stated in the chapter on the Benefit of Others in all three treatises. The twenty-four lapses are the last two of the twenty-two refutations, and the numerical certainty of such refutations is the view of the externalist Lokayatas, so it is refuted, and as stated in the Treatise on Debate, it is proven that the four are divided from the two. To gather together all the meanings of the treatises of Dignaga and Dharmakirti and explain them in this way is because no one else explains their intention, so following this system should be considered fortunate.
